Buzz hosts VSTi plugins and is very cpu friendly (I used to run it on a Pentium 1, Windows 98 )

Still, see how well EnergyXT works.
It may require a generic/universal ASIO driver ( http://www.kvraudio.com/other_links.php?m=s&c=5 )

Pretty good considering it's as capable as software costing 20 times that cost.

Yes and it is completly free.
(BTW you need also Polac's Vsti plugin, the best VST-host plugin IMHO)

The standalone version of energyXT comes with an ASIO driver.

No? Then what's the asio.dll it comes with that it needs to run in a subfolder? This version of XT won't start without it.

it's eXT's asio-implementation (so that eXT can communicate with the asio-drivers) ;-)

Post

Its the asio implementation in energyXT (asio.dll is used to load and query asio drivers on your pc), you still need an asio driver, usually ships with your card or you can download asio4all

I've actually been contemplating selling Live 5 because XT does most of the things Live does. I dunno though, for some reason I just can't quite make my mind up whether I want to part with it or not.

Thanks for explaining this. I just assumed it was a driver (that for some reason didn't need typical installation) because I'd never seen this before. Love the host, and worth every cent of $50. I have 1.4 beta -- is this still current or have I missed newer version announcements? Is there a newsletter?
