Huh. Um. I'd suggest you get in touch with Emu's tech support. They've also cleaned up their act recently and actually know what they're talking about.damonv wrote:I installed the new drivers and it seems to have solved the crackle problem. The Proteus X works now!

Hmmmm... I'm just about to shell out for the emulator x studio bundle (with some thrown in samples on thomann...). You guys scare me... most of you that is... Might get the 1616m for my lappy too. Not that money isn't a problem but then I definitely don't need a plasma tv like everybody else is buying these days

That is the weird thing: it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (ST380011A), so it should be OK.Ildon wrote:What speed is your hard drive? If it's below 7200RPM, that might explain why it crashes.
Another thing: if I set the VSTi to have several output buses, I can't select the first one in Ableton Live (both 4 and 5). Only those from #2 onwards. I don't know if it is Live or Proteus X, or just me and my system.

i can't vouch for the Emu-X software, but my brother has the 1820M hardware and hasn't really had any stability problems and it sounds excellent, but I have seen stability reports on the software though, but I haven't kept up,you might want to check the EMU forums in that regard http://www.productionforums.com/index.php?f=52Guckli wrote:Hmmmm... Oh. It's probably Live. I noticed that the Emu stuff acts differently in other hosts. Like in FLStudio, the Proteus X gives me LOTS of latency.Cone wrote:That is the weird thing: it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (ST380011A), so it should be OK.Ildon wrote:What speed is your hard drive? Could be. I'll need to contact Ableton tech support again, first time I got nothing or some spam filter ate any reply I might have got. Also, multi-outs in Proteus X work fine with Cubasis VST 5 and Cubase LE.Ildon wrote:Oh. It's probably Live. I noticed that the Emu stuff acts differently in other hosts. I don't think Emulator X etc. have been terribly unstable since v1.5. Certainly I haven't heard any Kontakt 2-style horror stories recently, but people do say that Proteus X LE is better behaved anyway...
You may need to flip the Render Mode switch every time you bounce, if your host treats live playback and rendering differently enough...
You probably have to toggle Render Mode (and maybe Extra Buffers) in the PowerFX control panel. This is mentioned in the manual. It's kind of counterintuitive; I need different settings in Cubase and Wavelab. But it works.damonv wrote:I installed the new drivers and it seems to have solved the crackle problem. ok i got the 1212m which idd comes with emulatorx software...all i can say is with the latest patches it works like a breeze.....as for the card i say it is the best money i ever spent on audio thiingies...
and the software: i think emulatorX rocks!... veeeery nice filters (you wont find them anywhere else..)... and if your system is fast enough you will have lots of fun with it in all kinds of ways.. i think the sound is very transparent and i love the synth engine on it.. very flexible modulation routing, but it is a bit of a cpu hog..(i got an amd 2000+, 512mbram..) but on a fairly recent setup..1024mbram, let's say 3000mhz processor i dont think you should encounter any problems..( oh i run xp.. btw.)
