I just thought I would take a moment to give the Muse guys a bit of much-deserved praise for their tireless efforts to make Receptor such a great box. You know, when it first came out, I thought "kinda cool", but I wasn't sure I would get a lot of use from it. Boy oh boy was I wrong. It has become one of my most-used instruments, third in line only after my Kyma and my big modular. With it's ability to play (via Kompakt) the massive amounts of Kontakt patches I make for Computer Music every month, Receptor has become my sampler of choice, and fully fits my needs as a synth workstation.

The best thing about Receptor is Muse themselves. These guys seem to work tirelessly to improve this box, adding more plugs, more sounds, and cooler features. I am so excited about Uniwire I could bust. Muse aren't just fixing bugs in their updates, but actually adding functionality. That is cool. That is the fulfillment of the "open ended architecture" all the hardware synth makers used to blather on about in their ads. Yet for some reason, every time one of those particular manufacturer added a few more samples, they slapped a new name and number (and pricetag) across the same old synth. Not so, Muse Research. They could easily have plastered a new coat of paint on this thing when they released Uniwire and called it "Receptor XT" or something, but that aint where they are coming from. They seem to truly want to make this thing a dream instrument.

I'm the first to admit that Receptor isn't for everyone, but for those who can benefit from it, it can be a real boon.

All right, I'll quit blathering on about it. I had just been in the studio working on my new album, and I realised that Receptor was on every song. That's the kind of thing that makes me realize how much I like an instrument.

I couldn't live without my receptor. I must have 4 custom banks built up which is the real beauty in this beast.Being able to customize it, just like you would do with any synth module that you would get. For my guitar, it a dream processor, especially with so many unusual effects from the vst world that would be hard pressed to see in the guitar harware effects world, and all of it in real time as I play.Fantastic!

I´ve been dreaming about a box like this for the last five years, at least. I´ve owned Roland XV5080, Kurzweil K2500, Triton ProX and rack and played a lot on a borrowed Motif. They all sounded like shit to me, not even a decent rhodes sound, and awful, awful pianos and strings, even in the expansion cards. I´ve been wondering why none of the major keyboard brands haven´t made a box with a couple of gig RAM and a decent hard drive so that big sounds could be loaded (and upgraded).

Enter Receptor, the answer to my dreams!
Suddenly I can load gigabyte pianos and use live but it also can sound like a minimoog or anything I will ever need!
I´m a very happy keyboard player right now...

Note: Some of my gear have been allright though , the Clavia stuff to be more precise, it just diden´t cover all my needs...
