Beno, thanks for the update.
Is there any possibility of a T2_WithoutAllExamples.exe in the near future? Or perhaps have the demos as a seperate download? It would increase accessibility for upgraders and reduce Mackie's bandwidth usage a fair whack, I should imagine.

It looks like none of the help menu items do anything. For example 'can't find the document' error comes up when you try to call up the user guide.Steve Prince wrote:Hey Beno,

Steve, where have you installed to? It seems like on your installation anything that references an external file in the tracktion folder structure is pointing to the wrong place. Have you tried reinstalling?

Holy shit!
Not the minor update, but the amount of childish Tracktion users. Incredible.
Some nice bugfixes, but very few features.
What makes hope is, that it is numbered 2.0.2.8.
I'd be really worried, if that was numbered as a major 2.x update.

Well, I just followed the instuctions on the update info:-
Step 4 didn't come up with the language screen. I noticed that a Mackie plug-ins folder was not created, so I did that manually by copying it out of the package contents.Release Notes wrote:Macintosh OSX
Step 1: On your Macintosh, navigate to the path /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST and move the Mackie Plug-ins folder to a safe place temporarily.
Step 2: Download the “T2Install_allexamples.dmg” file from your user account at my.mackie.com and double-click on the downloaded file to mount the disk image (if it doesn’t mount automatically).
Step 3: Drag and drop the tracktion.app (you won’t see the “.app” extension if you are on 10.3 Panther) icon from the disk image to your applications folder, replacing the existing tracktion.app already present.
Step 4: Launch the new Tracktion application. Choose the language you wish to use.
This will automatically reinstall the latest versions of the Mackie Plug-ins. Check that the new Mackie plug-ins are available and function in Tracktion.
Step 5: You may now delete the folder you backed up from step 1.
Seeing that this folder was not created on launching the app I'm presuming that if I delete T2 and reinstall (which after all, is only copy from the disk image to your applications folder or wherever you choose to locate it) then the same thing would result.
I seem to recall a while back, when T2 first came out, that there were similar issues with the Mackie plugins folder for example.
I might try deleting T2 and reinstalling to see what happens

I just trashed T2 and reinstaled, same problems. All that seems to be added are the project examples, you know, 'Fangbonius' and the others.
On the Mac all the help documentation etc. are within the package contents so T2 really doesn't have to point to an outside folder to locate these files. Inside the package, as I've already mentioned, are the Mackie and MDA plugs as well
These are not a major problem for me but might be for a new user; no pop up help for example.
Have any other Mac users found the same thing happening? Maybe it's just me

Sorry I can't be much help with this mate, i'm on a pc and it seems fine here. But all the symptoms you're describing point towards the main tracktion program file being present, but none of the supporting files. Langugages, the pop-up help, the pdfs etc are all external files (certainly on pc they are), many of which you can change with a text editor if you're into that kind of thing. So it sounds to me like you're getting the main program file onto your mac, but not the rest of the files.
Whether that's a problem with the installation instructions on 10.4, or the package itself, or something slightly off with what you're doing, i just don't know. It sounds pretty straightforward reading the instructions
Hopefully some mac bod will happen along soon with better help. I know Beno's on a mac, maybe when america wakes up he can shine some light on it

could it be a permissions problem of some kind?
Perhaps the installer is being restricted from creating files in the Tracktion folder.

All Help is working fine on my Mac. A language selection dialog did pop up when I started it for the first time, though. Have you tried trashing the Tracktion prefs? If you do this, you might have to re-authorize the app.
