Squids:
I've been using AT1 and loving it. Although I can't get some Mark Knopfler's sounds (solo work). I know good part of his tone is in his hands but assuming I can play like him, if AT2 can make those deep tubey clean sounds, i would definitely buy it.
It would be great if you can program some presets with Knoplfer's inspiration.
Bye

all the talk of presets, I wonder how that will effect guitarists down the line...seriously, I spent many years in my youth learning how to get crap little amps to sound. Eventually that developed into a solid understanding of guitar tone and how to create my disired tone. Yeah I use prests im my POD, but They are saved on a song by song basis...I may start with a preset from tone transfer and usually tweak it to fit the song.
Having an extensive background using amps that couldn't have presets, and spending years not only working on my talent, but also trying to find the best tones for me helps a lot. I quickly can hear a probmatic issue and I know just how to fix it because I know how to create it. What will happen to those rguitarists who are starting out today on a life path of presets? Will we all just sound the same? Will they understand?

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Heh... yeah, same with synthesisers... nobody knows how to use them in this day and age! I mean, to think you'd actually have to program something! aiiieee!
Nah seriously, I can imagine a lot of people will throw in a preset, and if it takes too much space in the mix, throw a highpass filter on it and call it fixed.
But hey.. they'll be the people with shit mixes

thanx, it's appreciated and I totally agree with you about the singing...tq wrote:Off topic: Hink, I just listened to some of your songs by following the link in your sig. Lovely guitar playing, I have to say. But you should definitely hire a singer...

Back to AT2... Squids, when you are still programming presets, does that mean that the plug in will be delayed until February 2007?
By the way, anyone new to this stuff really should buy AmplitTube 1 right now (or the upgrade to AT1 if they have AT LE or LIVE...even from a Digi, Mackie or Emu system that qualifies for it). I have confirmed the question someone had about "will the AT1 upgrade qualify for the free upgrade to AT2?" The answer is YES. I mean, AT2 is around five hundred bucks normally but you can get it for half price by just buying AT1 right now (and you get AT1 which is a whole different plug-in with different presets and sound... and it is going away when AT2 comes out so this is actually your last chance to get it... hmmmm... think about that! Just in case there are sounds you wanted from AT1 it becomes free in this situation so you might as well... and if you do please go do www.esoundz.com or anywhere you like of course).

No, I don't think so.Beardedone wrote:Are there any competitive crossgrades to AT1 if you use say, iZotope Trash?

Sure. Have you seen the AT2 presets thread in the SR forum? Let's get some specific Dire Straights tune/tone requests there. Also, someone can post his rig to have a look as well. Knopfler, Clapton, Page... let's have some fun!alejandrozalaquett wrote:Squids:

To me, usually presets for amp simulators are making close to no sense as (others than with a synth) it all depends too much on the guitars used.
But then, that might only be me... I've dealt with enough amps to usually know which controls to adjust to get me to the desired sound.
However, it'd make great sense to have some sub-presets, say, for the FX devices. From what I can see, GR2 will operate this way (Kontakt style). Will AT2 do the same?

I am using a Variax (shock! horror!) So here, presets make sense: You can vary the amp simulation and the guitar type as well! Very flexible.Sascha Franck wrote:To me, usually presets for amp simulators are making close to no sense as (others than with a synth) it all depends too much on the guitars used.
That said, I am not a guitarist, but a converted keyboard player, so I am not so much after the perfect vintage sound, but interesting guitar sounds that fit the song (which might even mean a fake guitar sound...

I don't see anything wrong with using presets... full stop. I have yet to improve on 99% of the presets I have come across.I don't see anything wrong with using presets as a jumping-off point.
