BR /FR : auto tempo

currently if you want to use the marked region to set the tempo you also have to have a clip selected (the autotempo button is only visible when a clip is selected). This makes no sense. Also if you put a tempo change to coincide with the start of a clip and then try to use that clip to set the tempo of the change you just inserted you get an error (selected clip must have no tempo changes or something). Both of these work aroundable problems slow down the proces fo making a tempo map from a live performance!! Thanks in advance.

I definitely wouldn't call it a BR-- the feature does exactly what it's supposed to do: set a tempo based on a clip. This is intended for use with loops, not a live application.

So, I wouldn't say that the way it's set up makes "no" sense. I've never imagined needing auto tempo for any other purpose.

Well, you've just proved that there IS another good reason to have auto tempo-- so I'd call this a FR rather than a BR.

I see what you mean, but where should it go in that case?

I suspect the tempo change was actually a tiny bit into the clip. I've been tempo-mapping quite a bit recently: if you turn snapping on to split the clip and insert the tempo change it works everytime..
