I'm at work so I can't check yet, but in T2 if you route the output of a track with MIDI data being generated (in this case by a plugin) to another track, will the sequencer record that MIDI on the pino roll of the second track? I need to do this in order to capture the MIDI being output by an audio to MIDI plugin, but because it isn't coming from the soudcard MIDI input before the track, it will have to either be recorded by another plugin, or by Tracktion on a different track. Any ideas on how to do this? If T2 won't do it, can you suggest a plugin that will (record MIDI and render a MIDI file that can be imported to T2)?

Are you driving it with live audio? If so, record the audio, with the audio to MIDI plug running live, and then re-route the track to a MIDI output and export a MIDI file. (If you select the track first you get the option to render just that track)

You can then re-import the result..

As it turns out, a frozen file is ".freeze" and not ".wav". But, the whole project frozen is 53 MB, and the whole project as a stereo 32-bit export is 44-ish MB, so I guess it seems fairly safe to assume that it's 32-bit. If that's the case, I wonder what the other 10MB are for!

You might need MidiYoke or you could try Greg's 32 bit freeze idea.

So I have the audio input going with an audio output first to record the audio and monitor the synth sound, then I run it again as a MIDI output track (which obviously means I don't hear it but it doesn't matter because it's already recorded), and I render to a MIDI file.

This brings up another issue I've been meaning to ask about. I've tried exporting MIDI files before and for some reason no file appears in the destination folder. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'll try again tonight. Thanks for the suggestion, IIR's, very smart.

This is very interesting, and I think it may actually apply to my sitution in some kind of unexpected way. I'll have to sleep on it tonight and see if I can figure it out.

You need to re-route any tracks you want included to an actual midi output.. I know, its weird!
