So, what are the upcoming SR drums/loops like?

Oh, and what I meant by questioning the utility of the ambient tracks for multitrack rex is that the advantage of rex in this context would be mixing and matching of elements of different beats with each other, taking the snare for loop 5 to use with the kick from loop 13, etc. The ambient tracks, being the whole beat, would not be as useful in that scnario.

I can't really contribute to the discussion -- although I do greatly enjoy tech-talk among people who know what they are talking about -- but am looking forward to how the REX (and ST2?) formats might shake out in the future
was holding off on buying Stylus RMX / GURU / Swami BMX until I knew what SR was bringing out
but I am a hobbyist and really only an occasional dabbler, and the initial formats are meant more for the pro-level, which is cool

By the way, we've added multi-track REX to the products.
First title may be available this month on a group buy. It will either be John Blackwell or Danny Gottlieb. Preference?

This is interesting Squids.
I nearly never use drum loop products, but I just realised that my VSampler3 imports REX1, REX2 and Acidised WAV files. I should really be able to do all sorts of fun things with that.
I might see if I can find some free REX2 and AcidisedWAV files around the place to see if I can find uses for this kind of thing.
Usually, I'm more a DIY with drums, which is why my percussion never sounds like a real drummer I suppose.
I keep thinking that I'd probably profit by getting something like Stylus RMX, but I continue to resist the temptation.

No offense to Mr. Blackwell, but I'd vote for Danny Gottlieb. Not that it will make my guitar playing sound like Pat Metheny, but it sure will help!Squids wrote:http://www.sonicreality.com/news/studioProfiles.php
