1. GUI is redicilous.
2. I thought Q slider behaved a bit wired.
3. The real funny fiscovery was that quality slider is a freaking bullshit. What it does is destroying sound in lower "quality" settings and makes eq sound like, say, CurveEQ if slider turned all the way to 5.
PLParEQ1?

I don't get it.. that's all.
Just downloaded the curve EQ demo and I hear nothing similar between these two plugins, at all.
Also, what do you mean with weird Q behaviour? Check the PDF that explains how the filters behave at different Q values.
Anyhow, each to their own. IMHO this EQ is the dogs bollocks in the world of linear phase EQ's (even the phase warp mode is superb).
Can't wait to get my hands on the Weiss again and do an A/B comparison of algorithmix, this eq and the voxengo HarmoniEQ in SmoothP mode (which was my benchmark mastering EQ before this one).
Cheers!

Best hoax I know. BTW, what is a hoax?
But the EQ is great. Off to try the new version...
Best wishes, FRitz

The point nuffy is trying to make is: in order to enjoy affordable tools anything with a higher price tag must be mixed with mud. The sound does not matter or at least it's a secondary factor. The price is all. It doesn't matter that affordability is completely subjective and sound quality isn't. Price can be easily evaluated. Nuffy makes 5 euro per hour he can only afford 50 euro plugins. Evaluating sound takes more effort and requires something better than sound blaster. A task that is way over his head. To sum it up, the destruction of pro audio market is the goal of nuffy's single minded crusade.Sascha Franck wrote:nuffink, as said before, I usually *do* see your points, but I simply can't find your methods to bring them points home appropriate.
this query needs to be addressed by the higher mind and might to illustrate nuffy's purpose in life:

1. what don't you get about GUI? is this a usual GUI to you? contorols? you find them good? I don't think I want to spend time on learning how to use smth what supposed to be a simple eq.
2. i used word "wired" because i didn't feel like it's easy do describe. who wants will do more reseach, but my guess for now would be it lowers eq gain. could be cheating.
3. i don't get what you don't get here
that QUALITY slider is something like "efficient" plug of Waves IR-1 So it isn't like setting 5 is something great and fabulous but setting 1 is complete shit. and THAT SLIDER IS THEIR MAIN POINT IN THEIR MARKETING
I'll have to compare it to Algorythmix Red and Orange later when I get some more quiet time to spare but for now this EQ doesn't win it already as I hear it. But that's not a final conclusion yet, tho.
bmanic you gotta be kidding, HarmoniEQ is nowhere near LAgorythmix EQs, those are totally different beasts, very straightforward (especially Red) nothing like HarminiEQ which is absolutely different approach and that's I guess the reason you like it. Could be that lowering gain sells you this one as well.

No, I'm not kidding at all. I think HarmoniEQ in the SmoothP mode is very good for surgical cuts. Personally I didn't find the algorithmix EQ to be anything special and have a hard time understanding how some people rate it over the Weiss.omo wrote: bmanic you gotta be kidding, HarmoniEQ is nowhere near LAgorythmix EQs, those are totally different beasts, very straightforward (especially Red) nothing like HarminiEQ which is absolutely different approach and that's I guess the reason you like it. HarmoniEQ is for me the best option right now due to cost and application (it's a plugin). If I'd have unlimited resources I'd buy the newest Weiss version, no doubt about it, it's fantastic.
As for saying that this PLParEQ1 is crap is just.. well, very weird. Are you sure it isn't bugging on your computer? In the Phase Warp mode that I seem to be using most it is better than a lot of EQs I've heard in a plugin (and I've heard most, TDM included).
Do a high shelf boost on a full mix of 20dB with this PLParEQ1 from around 12khz and set Q to 0.40 now try doing the same with any other plugin eq. If you can find one that is much better than this one at anything under 1000$ I'd be very surprised.
Cheers!

I grabbed the new version of the eq. It seems to be even slower. CPU consumption is the weakest area of the plugin. I don't see anything wrong with the gui. It's not pretty but it works. the 'fine' slider is a good addition.

It's incredible that a free plugin of this quality brings up such negative comments from a bunch of people and then another bunch that think it's a hoax.. very very weird. Are the planets somehow mysteriously alligned that make some people go banana?...xander wrote:Thread Info Value: 0--x-----10

I'm going to up the Thread Info Value (currently 0--x-----10) a notch if no one minds.
We just spent a good two hours with JMH mastering some of his tracks and I have to say that this is THE mastering EQ, no question about it. The sound is suberb by all standards.
I seemed to like the phase warp mode sound a bit more than the linear one, and I will always want it at q5. This EQ excels in all filtering areas, but what it does to bass is amazing. I haven't ever heard an EQ that can do boosts at 20hz without destroying everything. What this one does could be filed under 'magic'. The audible boosts in that region are just... damn.. I'm out of words.
This is NO HOAX!
