At least you make some fine music with other tools.

This just goes to show that there isn't a one-size-fits-all music package, or platform for that matter.

For me, the workflow in Tracktion is natural. I have tried to show it in person to others and their eyes glaze over - these folks are bright, capable, home recordists, and it just doesn't 'work' for them.

Keep cranking out the good stuff. I don't care what tools you use to do it.

See part of me wants to be in what's new and exciting. That reason and the fact that I needed a native VST host - my other hosts were not handling the mod wheel morphing function for softsynths like Cameleon5000 etc. The layout is clear and simple and the general uncluttered setup looked appealing. But after a bad time with muyitimbral and multiout VSTis and the primitive pianoroll I lost interest in T1 - T2 was not enough. If it wasn't for FinalMix I would probably uninstall for good.

For example I just tried it again - entering and editing midi notes in the pianoroll. Midi note editing in T2 has got to be a joke. How the heck do I modify note length? I seem to recall that this possible but in T2. The pencil tool does not grab the note at all.

Hover the pencil or select tools over the end of a note and it will turn into a <--> sort of thing so you can drag the length..

Don't know what the issue is there, but I'm still running T1.6

Perhaps you have snapping enabled and the amount of time you are moving is smaller than the snap grid?

Actually, Gordon, I think it's the quantize 'feature'. If a clip already has quantize enabled on it, dragging start / stop times will only seem like it's happening if you drag past a quantize time division, then you'll see the note length snap to that quantized length.

Set quantize to 'none' for the clip, and you should be able to drag away start and stop times happily - at least this is how you do it in T1.6

By the way, Gordon, have you checked out Chordspace? I think your very cool melody lines would just rock through Chordspace, to make up some jazzy auto-accomp.

You probably would understand what it's all about. I can understand the circle of 5ths and then when it goes out from there, then it gets all foggy to me.

Thanks Yeah I have had it for awhile but haven't explored it's potential fully. I have not been spending much time with the new stuff I have picked up lately but I will soon. I hav ebeen spending more time playing guitar. CS works like a charm in Sonar 4 btw. I'll have to see if it will run in T2.
