At the very least, it'd be nice to be able to group a load of clips together so they all move around as one.
Like in how you can group clips in Vegas for example. I assume Acid is the same but i've never used it...

I'd use it as often as you do...Lunch Money wrote:It's a function I look forward to being incorporated into Tracktion some day. I'd use it a tonne.
But at the moment I see a (major?) problem with the current way T2 treats audio clips. As has been stated before: When you cut an audio clip, Tracktion keeps the original information. Actually you have two copies of the same clip which are reduced to the position where the split has been set. But both clips contain the *full* audio information. When you expand one of both clips you can make the "cut" part visible again.
Ok, how can Tracktion cope with this situation? Should it drop the invisible part of a clip when merging two clips? Keep its information in a kind of "logfile" for instant recall?
Honestly, I have no idea!
Any ideas?

easy - think of the way that DTP packacges deal with vector based objects. You simply 'group' objects into one object that can be 'ungrouped' later if needs be.

Greg,
I would use it a ton, which I think might me a little more or less than a tonne.
Or group clips into one editable/ copyable / pastable entity for that beatslicing thing. Otherwise, it's pants.

Ok, but then we should call it "clip grouping" as bastien has already suggested. It would be just another method of clip *handling* instead of destructive operation.valley wrote:easy - think of the way that DTP packacges deal with vector based objects. couldn't you just put the clips you want merged into a new empty track and render? that will merge them...

Sure, but this is a workaround for instant & single shortcut actions of competitors...Rock wrote:couldn't you just put the clips you want merged into a new empty track and render? that will merge them...

I much rather be able to quickly merge audio like midi. But until then I just put the clips on a new track and render.
Some useful shortcuts for doing this are : "T" creates a new empty track, "Alt-" turns cursor into a crosshair to select multiple clips, "Shift Drag" lets you move clips vertically without changing their horizontal possition (start point). Once you memorize those three its pretty fast to render clips.
But screw all that, lets have merge clips! Add it to the list.
Oh its also annoying how rendered clips dont keep the name. They're all just named "Rendered". I hate that.
