Updating plug-ins on a Receptor.

Hi, it's me, again.... I'm downloading the user-installer for Absynth 3 as I write this. I'm looking at the file name and notice that the version number is: 3.0.0.027

What I'm wondering is; I have the latest update for the Absynth and it's 3.02, do I install it? Or is there some database to look at that tells me what version is tested or not? I'm assuming that I just drag the .dll's over and replace the old one, right?

What about other plug-ins? Does Muse post this "best version" info someplace? Newsletter?

This is going to require an updater from us, you cannot do this yourshelf. There is an entry in our bug database concerning this issue. My current taks are to release a 1.4 beta update next week before getting Uniwire tested and released. I'm sorry for the delay.

VST is not very well documented and different hosts behave differently. Sometimes an update to a VST plug-in fixes a problem with a particular host. Just because there is a new version, it does not mean that it will work better on Receptor. On the contrary, it could be worse.

We start with the latest version at the time, fix any problem we encounter, test the hell out of the plug-in, then release it. When a new version is available, we assess what it fixes, if it affects Receptor, are there problems that customers complain about, etc. If it is worth doing an update, we do it eventually. When there are major problems that a new version fixed, we provide an update very fast.

You cannot update a supported plug-in yourself. You cannot just drag the new dll and replace the old one.

There is no database, but on plugorama you can check the available installers. You can compare our version with the latest one from the manufacturer. You can consult the release notes from the manufacturer, and if you find that it fixes an important bug, you can yell at us, and as you probably know, we do listen. We may not be able to provide an updater as fast as you would like, but we try our best.

No biggie. I was just wondering. I'm in no panic for it. You can make some monsterous sounds with Absynth and some of the multi's. There's not a synth out there that can touch this thing. The freeware multi's blow my mind! I'm happy with how it works just the way it is. I can get back to making music and stop trying to tweak stuff and debug setups.

It's the best music equipment purchase I've ever made.
