MIDI routing/USB keyboard with Receptor - Need advice

I have a M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 which has USB and MIDI IN/OUT. I also have a MBox 2 with MIDI IN/OUT. Then there's the Receptor with its MIDI IN/OUT/THRU and USB connection (I also have a 828MkII for live stuff).

Okay, what's the best way to route this stuff? Currently, I have my keyboard plugged into the USB port on the Receptor and then the Receptor outputs audio via S/PDIF to my Mbox 2. I can record audio but now I want to record and output MIDI. I like how snappy the Receptor operates with the USB connection. My first question is: Does the Receptor pass the MIDI from the USB port to the MIDI ports? I can't find this data in the manual. This is what I'd like to do (keep in mind that the Keystation can output MIDI on both the USB connection AND the MIDI output port at the same time):

KS88/USB<---->Receptor/USB port

KS88/MIDI OUT----->MBox 2 MIDI IN (this way I can record MIDI notes)

MBox 2 MIDI OUT ------> Receptor MIDI IN (for sync)

Then set the tempo source as external in the Receptor setup. Should that value change when I change the tempo in my sequencer? Or if the Receptor passes MIDI from the USB port I could do this:

KS88/USB<---->Receptor/USB port

Receptor MIDI OUT------> MBox 2 MIDI IN

MBox 2 MIDI OUT-------> Receptor MIDI IN

Or should I have the Receptor be the MIDI sync? Is that better? Which has a better clock? I'm guessing the Receptor. True?

Thanks in advance.

***EDIT***

I just tried the first method and it works prefectly. The Receptor can get MIDI thru both ports by the looks of things. The tempo display shows the sync to my sequencer, too.

Wow.... this thing is neat. UniWire will change all this routing stuff, of course. :love:

Currently, the MIDI out of Receptor does nothing. MIDI thru works, it just passes along what comes into MIDI in. Without MIDI out, then obviously Receptor does not output MIDI clock.

So yout first setup is the one to use.
