I'm fairly new to the VST arena and have a bonehead question.
I want to Jam in realtime with guitar but apply some of these cool VST effects. Basically use my computer as a multi effects box.
OK that said.. Does the VST it self have to be realtime capable or does the host, or both?? (Host suggestions Welcome).. Would Sonar 3 do what I want, Stability is important? Or is there any decent freeware to do this?
I have a low latency ASIO card by the way (Ederol UA 25)
Would be nice to jam with an accompnyment track.. MP3?? Maybe even record the whole thing?? but essentially it's the realtime effects from analog input I'm looking for.. Vocoders, DSP, Reverb, Chorus.. Etc. Good VST effects suggestion welcome here as well.
Thanks experts!!

VST is real time-processing, but in terms of hosts, configuration, you need to set your ASIO driver to a low latency. Sonar 3 at least in my expirence is hit-or-miss when it comes to live-effects work. Project 5 2 is much better in this regard. If you're just looking to use your PC as an effects box, you should look into a modular host like Bidule, Chainer, Console, or Energy XT.
