Yep, that's why they no longer exist in my plugin folder. I had lots of probs with the "blue line" plugs.polaris20 wrote: THe plugins that were posted before locked up my system tighter than a drum.

I'm running an A64 3000 w/1 gig ram. I got 14 tracks before red-line.polaris20 wrote:http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2CSB ... VL1ZI4JMQN
Here's an archive. I got 16 tracks with it, using the stock plugins.
17 tracks playback ok.
18-35 tracks still plays, but stutters progressively worse with each added track. No CPU overload indication.
36 tracks causes audio to stop completely.
Here's the kicker: I tried T1 just for grins
26 tracks at redline.
28 tracks playback ok.
29 tracks: cpu overload.
wtf! Has anyone else tried T1 in this test?

Ok, T1 on my old and slightly tweaked PIII 1.2+ 512M
21 tracks playback and record 1 more ok.
23 tracks playback ok
25 tracks redline.
Is T1 more efficient or???

Laptop time. Same acoustic guitar track, same effects. 1.33Ghz Celeron, 768MB RAM. 5.4k hard drive.mandolarian wrote:Ok, T1 on my old and slightly tweaked PIII 1.2+ 512M

T2: 10 tracks no red, 11 tracks red but still plays.
T1.6: 14 tracks no red, 16 with red but still plays fine.
Uh, weirdness. I wonder what it is in T2 that makes it less efficient. Still, with the freezing, I still like T2 enough that I'll continue to use it over 1.6. I'd like to see if the software engineers can look into it and see why there's a fairly significant difference for many of us.

AMD Sempron 3000+
Gigabyte GA-K8U Mobo
512 Kingston ValueRam
40 Gig Hdd
T1 - 24 Tracks, No Red (red starts on 25)
T2...14 Tracks, No Red (red starts on 15th)
Thats a 10 Track difference! I guess T2 will again collect dust on my hdd.

Now it starts making sense. I was reading all these posts reporting 8-20 tracks with some more than decent machines and I had 27
with my 3.0GHz prescott (ok it's clocked at 3.6 but WTF). But I was using T1. It really seems that T2 is less efficient than T1 or needs some special tweaks. We need more scientific evidence to prove such a statement though.

Cmon aldi. This thread is not about host wars. Are you sure you know what you are talking about? Were you able to run 50-100 tracks each one with a 4band EQ, a reverb , a delay , a chorus and a compressor? And all these 4 years back.aldi wrote:uff, final you see it. in logic i was able to work with 50-100 tracks (and that 4 years back). that's a big diffrent!!

surely not, but try your test with just eq an delays.zeoy wrote:Cmon aldi. This thread is not about host wars. Are you sure you know what you are talking about? T2 - 13 tracks starts hitting red, 15 tracks glitch free while in the red
T1 - 19 tracks starts hitting red, 21 tracks glitch free while in the red
interesting stuff...
I then took a track that I composed in T2 and then reloaded it in T1 to see if the performance was any better... It gltiches out in the exact same spot as it did before... but smooths out a hair quicker. Looks to be giving about one extra voice of performance in zeta+.
I then did the same test using ambience and the announcements clip..
T2 - 5 instances, no red
T1 - 6 instances, no red
both can play 6 instance clean (in the red), but neither version can run 7 tracks.
I turned the cpu setting all the way down on ambience.. and could get...
T2 - 22 instances
T1 - 24 instances.
so I s'pose there are some differences.. but using a VST (ambience in this instance), the track counts are not nearly as dramatic. Interesting stuff...
please don't let this devolve into host wars...
As I mentioned earlier, I did test ambience with the announcements clip in eXT and Live with the heavy cpu setting.. and I could get 7 tracks on both glitch free... with the 8th killing them. Looks like there are some optimizations lurking in there.

I'm not sure if the comments about t1 being more efficient then t2 are completely fair.
I tried it on my setup and I did get apr 10 more tracks on t1 than t2, but only when using native plugins.
I tried using the free classic plugins (so anyone can try the same) and there was no difference at all between t2 and t1.
After further messing around it seems pretty clear that the native plugins take up quite a bit more cpu in t2 than T1.
To me this doesn't matter because I never use the native effects, but this could be why some people are seeing a performance difference between the two versions!

hmm...We'll have to look into that. I didnt think of the native plugs being different (but I never use them either)...
