Si. TapeIt!
Maybe someone who is a GURU user could help you further. But it's friday and I think all you can get right now is the smartasses and cheapskate stepchild users.

ok..now im flustered.
i put tapeit2 in the kick channel.
I set it to start when I hit play.
T2 plays and Tapeit2 shows sound is going into it, it's recording.
I import the audio into my song...no file..no sound was recorded. I don't get it.

Where is the track routed? Is TapeIt right after GURU in the track? What bit depth? This is sounding like fright night.
If you can hear it, then stick TapeIt in the master and solo the Kick track and try it again. With feeling.

well thx for hanging in there man..i got it to work..i set the depth at 24 and let it rip..and by a sweet miracle i pulled it off.
anyway, this was all so i can take this mult stem, compress the crap out of it, and use the resulting sound as the attack in my kick sound.

Wow, lotta work just to make it go Th-Th-Thwapp. It seems drum sequencers might be the next target of drummer jokes!
Glad you got it working, Stash.

Samples? Are you gonna post some samples of the world's most tweaked kick? Or stick it in a VST? One Kick Only!

Couldn't you have just dropped the whole thing in a rack and put a compressor on only the output of the kick?
No need to render!
I'm still confused, though-- I keep hearing for some reason, "I have long MIDI notes triggering it" and then "But there's no data in Tracktion itself".
Where exactly are the MIDI notes 'living'?

yeah i should post some samples..but ill just tell you what I did, and I think Lunch will get what I was doing.
Take a drum sound...808 or whatever, when you have it in guru, you are doing your patterns in there...each pattern is a "scene" which is triggered by a MIDI key. my pattern was 16 bars. I also automate pitch and velocity in there (using graphs), so it is much easier to do it all in GURU...MIDI data does drag and drop, but it doesn't bring the graph data with it, and i use the graphs a lot.
the way i mangled the kick was by making a multiple take of that file and then compressing it so hard that it just makes an attack sund..i know you can do parallel comp, but then would be blending that sound into the original kick track and that is not what you want.
also, on a sidenote, I tried a duck setup using the Mackie sidechainer in a rack, and I got delay..so I couldnt use it...anyone else have this issue sidechaining?

Where you using a multi-out rack? If so you need to copy the sidechain comp rack filter to all tracks that are fed from the multi-out rack, and choose which of them actually sends to the sidechain comp rack using the settings for each rack filter.stash98 wrote: also, on a sidenote, I tried a duck setup using the Mackie sidechainer in a rack, and I got delay..so I couldnt use it...anyone else have this issue sidechaining?
(If the delays are different for each output of a rack, Tracktion can't compensate automatically)

hmmm...ok..so I want to get the bass to duck the kick. I set the kick as the key input right? I am getting my drums from GURU which is a multi..so I should put an instance of the sidechain on every GURU out? My bass is recorded live into T, i think latency is around 3.9 ms.

Thats right. The set them up so only the kick is actually sent to the side-chain input.stash98 wrote:.so I should put an instance of the sidechain on every GURU out?

I'm paying close attention to this thread, as I want to record the MIDI and or audio output of Chordspace - which is triggered by single midi notes, but sends out cool jazzy chords in MIDI based upon how one sets up Chordspace chord tension settings.
BFD is like this as well, yes? Has midi patterns native to itself, which get triggered by other midi input, correct? I don't know, I never was able to use it on my lesser machine. The wraps come off the new AMD64/XP machine soon so I'll be able to give it a try.
