By the way, do IKM charge for license transfers? Coz if it turns out to be pap... I'll have to sell it.

IF they are using a dongle, they should f**king get a clue and
a) DON'T use any installers, so the DLL (or AU equivalent) could be copied freely from system to system without going through the hassle of a dongle driver and whatever license control center utter bullshit pieces of crap software.
b) have a mini USB hub inside their glorious foot controller interface to lock the dongle in!
But it's not to be expected *any* of those big companies will ever get a clue because they don't give a rats ass whether copy protection is harming the legit user.
I can just tell you one thing for sure: If I will ever be using my laptop live, there's gonna be NO dongle sticking in it! These things are stolen in a fraction of a second (just happened to a friend of mine, there went the Logic dongle...).
Oh yeah, you can lock them somehow... great and unobtrusive protection, sure..

Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Love the dongle and hate the dongle, but you can only love the dongle if there is something worse.
In a nutshell
Dongles just plain suck! from the get go.
I have one dongle (Cubase).
It's the only dongle I will ever have.
Sorry Amplitube 2, got a dongle? Yer out!
Period!!!

According to Squids Amplitube 2 and Cubase SX use the same dongle (Syncrosoft). I have personally experienced no problems with the Syncrosoft Dongle. You will still only have a single dongle as you can put your AT2 authorization on your Cubase dongle.Pi_314 wrote: I have one dongle (Cubase).

A dongle is a dongle. Yuk. Even the sound of it:
"dongle"... sounds a lot like "dangle" but with the word "dong" in there, too.
Doesn't it strike you as something inelegant and obtrusive? Sascha had a great idea regarding the foot controller....
Heck, I hate it even when it's my stupid USB thumb-drive sticking out of my computer for 5 minutes (which I have and will again accidentally bang into, possibly resulting in damage to the dongle or the usb port), so why would I want this key sticking out?
I don't have the money for AT2 anyhow, but if I did... you can bet I'd be disappointed by dongle-tastic antics.

IK announced Amp2 back in Jan/Feb this year --- said it would be out in April or May, as I recall. They promised an update from Amp1 to Amp 2 for $99, and this made me buy Amp1 back then. However, sometime during September, I gave up on IK and bought GR instead --- which I have just upgraded to GR2. I will not buy the upgrade to Amp2 now, and I am really annoyed with their marketing communication strategy. Over the years, it's been the same with all their other releases. Well, whatever...mondo tormento wrote:November 1st, and no AT2. Christmas maybe? Or NAMM 2006?

Great so we are all expected to take our dongle live and if it gets lost, stolen, broken or whatever we loose cubase as well, thats even better.edgar_varese wrote:According to Squids Amplitube 2 and Cubase SX use the same dongle (Syncrosoft). None of this matters to me. I simply will not buy a product ever again that uses a dongle. Internet authorization sucks too, but a dongle is the absolute $hits if it's lost, stolen, or broken.According to Squids Amplitube 2 and Cubase SX use the same dongle (Syncrosoft). Granted I feel the same way but I am going to see how well it works and what others experience is (and hear how it sounds) before I decide.Quote:
