Merge audio clips ?

Yeah, having it all look like one solid clip would just be an illusion, ideally. It shouldn't be a real render, though having that as an option would be OK I guess.

What makes it so nice? I've never tryed it before.

basically, they way it works... you select a bunch of clips... it doesn't matter if they are on different tracks or not... you hit the group shortcut key... and they are grouped. You can then select any clip, and it will move the entire group in spite of them potentially being on differing tracks (as one would expect). The bonus is that you can also move clips within the group to differing tracks (or even new tracks), while still maintaining its' group association... I thought this was pretty nifty and useful.

what would even be more bad ass, is if tracktion could include "midi" tracks in the grouping.. that way, one could have the option to group midi, audio or both...

yeah.. that would rock pretty hard.. or at least I'd find it pretty damn useful.. Don't get me started, there is so much stuff I'd want to pull fron the sony apps, in spite of ppl shit talking them.. they have lots of really good features that could slide right into the "Tracktion" way...

I'm with ModulR on the Sony (ok, Sonic Foundry - props where they are due) thing. I still love the way I can paint loops in ACID; even my rather crusty version 2.0 (which is about the same as today's Express version - but thankfully, I can save the whole project out to .wav, whilst one cannot do this in the current ACID Express). I like ACID's loop preview synced to the project tempo for auditioning loops. Grouping clips, just as if they were Powerpoint objects and moving/copying the group, would get around some of the lack of proper time stretch, as one could slice a loop, grab the resultant clips and group them together, then copy and paste where they need to go further into the edit.

I find it almost unbelieveable that T cannot perform this basic function. I use it so much that I sometimes choose to use Cubasis (that's Cubasis, not Cubase), version 2 that I have had on my PC for about 127 years, which can do it no problem. Can't do much else mind, but it sure can merge audio clips good

That is funny . Yeah like any host its a give and take, and you kinda gotta pick your battles. But I dont care how many clips I can merge in Cubase, I would never go back. NEVER.

Well, if Yamaha bough Tracktion and then renamed it Cubase TX, I guess I would switch.

Suggested this one before:

If we have an option to "render clips in place" i.e. achieving the same efect of dragging to a new track, rendering and then dragging it back. The new, rendered clip will be linked to a new audio file, of course.
This should be a one click operation, no options.
Any filters assigned to the track will be ignored, but the render will include any filters on the clip.

This sholdn't be hard to implement at all and allows fast merging of audio clips but also making a unique copy of a clip and destructive editing of sorts (processing will still be realtime).

Rendering multiple clips has been added in Tracktion 5.3, there is a new blue button in the clip properties called "Render Clips" that you can use to render multiple clips (of any type) into a single audio clip.
