HI,
just got tracktion and looked thru manuel but can not seem to find how to rejoin section after spliting.
i copied and pasted parts onto one trk and want to now make one complete track without splits.
appreciate any help

ATM it's not possible with a function opposite to "split". You'll have to render the single track.

If the split clips reference the same audio file, just delete one of the clips and drag out the other.

*Could* be an option. But what are you doing with dozens of clips & crossfades? Even when they are from the same source? E.g. editing vocals? It seems to be the feature request du jour, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it come along sooner than later. I wouldn't hold my breath for it since if Mackie decides to do more than just a "hidden render" for merging audio clips, it could be a massive undertaking.
In the meantime, I don't know why people keep seeing render as evil. To me, it's a FEATURE! I came to Tracktion via a 4-track cassette Portastudio (well, I used CMuzys unsuccessfully and Plasma Express somewhat successfully, too). Now I go, "Cool! Now that my track's all arranged, I can just render it!"

I'd love a merge audio function, of course. I can't think of anyone silly enough to think it'd be a 'bad' feature. But in the meantime, the modern DAW's ability to render is still a feature and not a detriment.
Ever have to bounce back and forth between a VHS machine and your portastudio in realtime just to reclaim some tracks? I did.

All I really want is a Render Selected Clips button when multiple clips are selected. All the work is already there in the Render Track function; I just want to select exactly what to render, rather than having Tracktion naively render everything in the track. Sounds pretty simple to implement to me.

you can just select the clips, and export only the selected clips.
plus, crossinger's point about xfades and locations and stuff; that's nothing to do with simply rejoining a split now, is it? if you make a split and can't undo it, then dragging out one of them is all you need to do. if that's not what you're doing, then you're not undoing a split!

That's no less than 6 clicks, and you have to manually line up the exported clip once you reimport it (1.6.0.1 here; don't know if BWAV import would help). Also, it would bypass all filters automatically, something which adds a significant amount of time to do manually, at least if you're doing this often enough.haydxn wrote:you can just select the clips, and export only the selected clips.

One of the problems that I've seen with most FRs is that they aren't specific enough. Your idea of "join clips" might not be the same as mine, and maybe we'll get one instead of the other. I'm just trying to precisely state what it is I'm looking for in this feature.
