If you are willing to convert a giga file to soundfont, try the Pedulla Thunderbass. It can be found on Worra's site

Hello Everyone,
Just looking over the posts and glad evryone is enjoying the Splendid Grand SoundFont.
The 72mb version is still free to download.
I had to remove the larger files due to bandwidth issues with our hosting provider
as well as a lot of people having issues with downloading and putting together
all of the file parts.

Regarding the CD we are offering.
We are not selling the piano library as our own creation.
We are only providing a service to those who wish to have all sizes of the converted soundfont (the cd contains "off mic" versions as well).
We acknowledge Akai's ownership of the original material and in no way are trying to infringe on their copyright.
The minimal cost is just to cover our time and material and allow you
to enjoy what these piano samples have to offer.

I contacted someone at Akai a long time ago (trying to find his email) and judging from his response I did not feel I was doing anything that might not be acceptable.
Originally when I downloaded the original AKP presets from the "free" ftp site there were no license agreements or anything that actually stipulated the restrictions of use for the sound files. I thought this was extremely unusual.

We are thinking about possibly putting the 256mb or the 136mb piano back up again
but I really want to find a more reliable way to deliver these by download so the
user will not have any difficulty.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns about the Splendid Grand SoundFonts. I find myself using them all of the time as they are really a great piano sound source.

Heck, put them both back up. Choice is good!

Bittorrent would be a good way to distribute it.

Very nice string sample! You can hear the air, the rosin, and the body of the strings. I believe the occasional artifact adds to the realism.

Great call! Thanks.......
