Anyone had problems with sfz ?

This has happened a few times now (in original and updated versions of T2)- basically sfz loads the soundfont fine (or so it sees) but no sound heard (or seen in level bar). Remove sfz, set track back to midi out, all fine. Re-insert sfz, load soundfont, set track back to audio - nothing. Happens with midi clips and midi keyboard input and mouseclicking on the visual keyboard to left of track (or rather, doesn't happen  )

Tried DFD, SF32 etc settings - no change.

I'm using multiple instances of sfz and it's working on some tracks . . .

If noone knows of a T-specific issue I'll ask on the rgc:audio board

I also have problems with SFZ. I get a lot of pops and crackles during playback...especially in DFD mode, but also in the 32 and 16 bit modes. When I render in one of the 32 bit modes (i forget which one) the pops arent there...

I have heard tell that sfz can be finicky. I have not had the problems you're having, nor many others. Those I have had are minor and have been cleared up this way or that, though I can't recall the details.

Sorry to be of no better help!

No worries - I'll see what rgc think . . .

I had no problems with an earlier version of sfz (the one that had lots of bad musician jokes!), but the most recent one gave me clicks and pops in all modes. Unfortunately I didn't keep the earlier version so I now use a different soundfont player.

I have problems with the latest sfz in tracktion, only with soundfonts, not with sfz definition files or wave files. I only just discovered this.

OK, maybe this is a stupid question.

Now that T2 comes with the BS-1 soundfont player, is there a reason to continue using sfz?

By the way, I have had trouble with sfz before similar to this. I got a memory cleaning utility, exit T, clean memory, start T, sfz works.

sfz is easily my most problematic plug-in. But I still use it because it's useful to me. ;)

Yes, if you have the Upgrade version of T2 and hence no BS-1 (I was going to go boxed-version then there was the faff over rebate/no rebate <edit - for us non-US customers> so did the download upgrade instead)

Thanks I'll look in to that.

I did find another OK free sf player but I like sfz's unobtrusive gui.

Rather than deleting the plugin and adding it again, have you tried wrapping it in a rack and then pulling it out into the filter chain again? Might re-initialise it without having to delete and hunt for the soundfont again.

well deleting and reinserting doesn't fix it anyway  (for me anyway)

sfz is just buggy. I don't think there are any t-specific issues other than the two don't get along usually. I'd ask over at rgc:audio's board.

yeah after nosing around that's the conclusion I've come too. rgc board has not yielded anything.
