Tracktion's MIDI export is unusual: it renders all the MIDI that appears at a MIDI output, in much the same way as it would render the audio for an audio export.
Its logical in a way, but it seems to confuse almost everyone!
So, you just need to select all your MIDI tracks and re-route them to a midi out (default out should be ok) before exporting.

A couple of things:
1. Selecting "Pass MIDI through Filters" ALWAYS results in no file being created on my system. I have never been able to export a MIDI file when that option is selected. It may as well be "Pass MIDI through wormhole" for all the good it does.
2. Tracktion needs (imho) a proper MIDI 1 export which would allow all tracks to be saved out as seperate MIDI tracks each with correct channel information. At the moment it saves out on a global per-channel basis which is (frankly) next to useless for anyone who wants to take a tracktion project into another application or notation editor.

Ok guys, thanks for your quick replies... but it's still not works... I don't use the "pass midi trough filter" option and i re-route the midi track on a midi output (instead of the default audio output, thanks IIRs i didn't know that) : same thing happen : no file being created
I don't understand, it's my first problem with tracktion...
Any new idea please ? thaaaaaanxs

There is an option to export each track as a seperate file.. but yes I agree, a type 1 option would be useful, as would the option to include all MIDI regardless of its destination (which is what most apps mean by "MIDI export"!)
This option only makes sense for plugs that pass a MIDI output, or that process the MIDI in some way. eg: Microtonic can have its internal patterns switched by MIDI control; the pass thru filters option will determine whether you are exporting the MIDI that controls Microtonic (so you can recreate the part with MT in another host) or whether you export Microtonic's internal sequencer patterns (so you can recreate the beats with another drum synth or sampler).1. Selecting "Pass MIDI through Filters" ALWAYS results in no file being created on my system. I have never been able to export a MIDI file when that option is selected. It may as well be "Pass MIDI through wormhole" for all the good it does.

Also try disabling any plug-ins on those tracks, and make sure you disable any filters in the master section..

Okaaaaay ! It works now ! In fact, i don't need to re-route the output of the track to a midi output, and i don't need to desactivate the filters on the track... Just desactivate the filters on the master section and it's ok ! Seems like a bug no ?
Thanks guys, i can now export my midi tracks in ext for live use !
