Anyone had problems with sfz ?

I have problems with the latest sfz in tracktion, only with soundfonts, not with sfz definition files or wave files. I only just discovered this.

What kind of problems?

crackles and clicks- not at all with sfz definitions, but constantly with sf2 files, in all possible configurations, at various buffer settings, with and without ASIO direct mode and RTPM in tracktion.

hmm, just tested again, after a total PC reboot, and I have no problems with playing sf2 files in sfz...

Thank you for answering. I was having some clicks and crackles, but it seems they are setup-related. I need to check it some more before drawing conclusions.

are you having them just with sf2 though, like in my situation?

I'm only using sf2 with sfz, so I wouldn't know. I'll have a go at throwing some sfz files at it next week and report back.

very helpful advice . i have a 3 gig processor, and512mb ram( surely enough for a soundfont of 20 mb's, with no other samples in the edit, or audio tracks...)

I have 2GB RAM and 3GHz Pentium 4 - I don;t think that's the issue . . .

I disagree with Ron. I think you're better off. It's not a RAM or a CPU issue. It's a buggy software issue. SFZ has the best design, but its implementation is too dodgy right now. I'm almost ready to give up, too, but I haven't bothered to install another soundfont player yet.

I always put the soundfont name and patch name in the track title because I never know when sfz will refuse to load the soundfont. This way I don't forget what was in there if I haven't worked on that tune for a while.

I use the Kx something or other player if I need mono/legato. Can't remember the name.

What I do is make a preset with the proper SF loaded and name it accordingly. Keeps the track names smaller.

Just wanted to see if people are still having issues with sfz. I've been running into T2 crashing when I try to load files into sfz. It's a real pain.
