I'm just trying to get my head around the Dry and Wet controls at the bottom of the VST panel.
Here's my confusion: When a VST plug has its own dryness and wetness controls, then the "generic" ones that usually display at the bottom of the VST panel provide yet another set of Dry and Wet controls, yes? ...and these controls presumably control the signal that goes into (or around) the VST plug, whereas the VST plugs internal dryness and wetness controls affect the signal once in the plug?
Any examples of why to use the external vs. internal Dry and Wet controls?

very simple.... and your're right with your assumption.
often there aren't any internal Dry and Wet controls so it's good to have the external ones....

The external control can be very handy. Say you want to distort a voice: you add a distortion filter to the track. It often won't distort the voice much, even with the VST's distortion and wet control maxed. With T's external Dry/Wet, you can control the level of, well, dry to wet. Always good to have more options.
