Definitely glad Sonic Reality wasn't blown away and Squids is safe
My grandparents were somewhat caught in the hurricane as well - never imagined THAT happening to that suburban community, for some reason. You always hear about hurricanes blowing over makeshift huts and motor homes and wiping out coastal cities - but I never imagined inland elderly Floridians being without power for 5 days. Good thing they live next to a fantastic Trinidadian grill-cook/caterer

All I know is if he showed up trying to hug anyone in the 3 hour gas line I waited in this morning (only to find they rationed the gas to just a quarter tank for each person) then I guarantee he would be not be doing his usual smirk.toine6 wrote:Well, actually Jeb Bush has said that problems dealing with the aftermath of the storm have been his fault, and not to blame Fema... So... yeah, it's partially Bush's fault one way or another.Squids wrote: Somehow it must be Bush's fault.Just kidding Bush fans! I like the BAND Bush, the beer and the 70's Playboy centerfold too. The pres, however, is another story.
(relax, just having some fun here folks, laugh a little).

But you do have this hug to look forward to.
(caption reads) President Bush hugs Florida resident Priscilia Herrera while visiting a relief center in Pompano, Fla., as he tours the area affected by Hurricane Wilma on Thursday.
I think each and every Floridian get's a hug.
Also, I am tired of the government (State or National) saying "oh, we weren't prepared". Why not? Did we not just see what happened with Katrina? Do we not know it is possible even since forever? How come we're still not prepared for it? It's suspicious and strange. Anyway, the government should at least have generators waiting to be used for more gas stations and food stores. That's tax dollars put into something USEFUL if you ask me.
Rant over.

'government' and 'useful' seem to be mutually exclusive...
an oxymoron, certainly...like 'military intelligence'.
good luck to you all in the path of wilma.

Problems is, the government shouldn't be some seperate entity that we have no control over. The way I figure it, we are all the boss, and we are letting OUR employee's ruin us. I say it's time we started firing some of these people, make some head's spin. Like... "look you've screwed up for the last time, with devastating consequences.. You're fired!!!" Why are we as a nation giving these guys all kinds of superstar respect, and allowing them to make us feel powerless? I guess we just need an easier way to fire people, like there needs to be some kind of safeguard. People in such important positions shouldn't be so protected, and only being thrown out after Super-Major disasters.

damn you know i never even realized Sonic Reality was located about an hour up the road from me....
I'm glad you guys are ok. Down here in South Dade it wasn't anywhere near as bad supposedly but there was still quite a bit of structural damage and lots of trees down...
Are you guys ever looking for interns? I'm currently majoring in music business and production. Let me know.
And once again glad you're safe...

/me recalls how things looked hereabouts after Isabel, two years ago, and sympathizes. We too lost literally heaps of trees. :-( The upside, if there is one: Bush didn't come down here to stage fake photo-opportunity "relief effort" scenes (as he did in New Orleans) or hug anyone.
