poll: what audio interface are you using now?

XP Pro SP2 with a M-Audiophile 192. Great card and it is everything they say and more. I was gong to get the 2496 but for a few more bucks I got the 192 and I sure amd glad I did.
Just trying to learn about recording, that is if my head is not too hard.

For mulitrack work, a Yamaha 01x. For plain mono/stereo (I do a lot of restoration work) a LynxOne. Running XP. I'm reasonably happy with the OS, which I was forced to move to because of hardware and software changes, but it has not proved quite as stable as 98 was.

well, lets see. I've got or had these:
* m-audio transit USB - very small, bus powered, way better than the laptop audio, but slightly more noise than other devices. I can get the latency down all the way without much issue.
* m-audio quattro USB - I used this with tracktion, but I don't recall the results
* m-audio omnistudio USB - this is a great front end. it has 2 mic preamps, inserts on the first 2 inputs, 4 direct outs for the USB outputs, 4 stereo aux-ins, fx send and return. latency gets way down on this one too, but lately I'm getting a teeny tiny click once in a while. I need to troubleshoot it a little more.
* echo indigo IO - latency can get very low, CPU utilization seems a little higher than the m-audio devices on my hardware for some reason. I can't stand having to plug in the little 1/8" cables. Its looking like I will end up keeping this one and re-baying the others
I've got an m-audio fast-track USB on the way (to replace the quattro and transit), but it may get rebayed too if it has the little clicking issue.
I've been trying to use my Compaq Evo N600c laptop- 768mb RAM, p3-1.2GHz. Unless I'm stingy with effects, I can get about 5 or 6 tracks before CPU starvation begins. XP Pro SP1- I'm still not ready to surrender all of the extra CPU cycles to SP2. I'm an IT guy in my day gig, so I don't generally have a lot of trouble with the OS since I spend so much time fixing it for other people. :-/
I'd sure like to try an Emu 1616 :)

Emu 1820m just moved to a Pentium D 3.2GHZ dual core (no-hyperthreading). Emu 1820m worked very on old Pentium 4 computer. Emu has BETA x64 drivers but the FX (on board effects)work poorly in the BETA drivers and the FX don't work with the CPU in Dual mode. The I/O works very well on x64 in Dual Cpu mode with 4ms latentcy. Maybe the post-BETA drivers will fix the FX?

Currently I have a Firewire410 hooked up full time to my desktop and an RME multiface that I swap back and forth between desktop and laptop when I need more ins. I have both the PCI card and the cardbus interface for the frontend.
The 410 works pretty good, except I cannot power it off firewire without getting noise in the outs. I get solid performance at 256 samples latency.
The RME is flawless, run at 64 samples latency it is just rock solid. Can't say enough good things about it.
In the past I have used
Maudio 2496 - worked great
Maudio 2448 - back when I was running win98, worked OK
Event EZBUS both with USB and with Event ADAT IO - never worked right consistantly with either, had to fight the drivers constantly. Now just use it as an ADAT front end submixer into the RME
Presonus Firestation - never worked right, then I upgraded the firmware and it quit working all together. (Don't even get me started about how much I hate this thing, F*^$% MLAN!!!) Just use it now as an ADAT front end into the RME
Roland VM3100 with RPC1 card - this was a sweet setup. I wish I hadn't sold it, but I had a friend who needed the RPC card for his VS2480
My ABIT mobo also has builtin SPDIF IO that works pretty darn well with ASIO4ALL drivers

RME Multiface. Haven't tracked into Tracktion with it, but do in Sonar. I usually track on a Mackie SDR through an 8 Bus, mix in the box. I used to have MAudio 2496, worked fine, but the detail from the RME is noticeably better (should be for the price!)

Used to have M-audio USB DUO which make me stay from M-audio forever. Now I am using Firebox and Echo Mia. The driver of both units is stable. I feel like the preamp gain of the Firebox is too low though.
