Here's 4 bars of a bit of fun I'm having with a jazzy shuffle thing, using the new Brushpak from Jamstix:

At the moment in Tracktion 2 I've got the BPM set at 110, with a time sig of 4/4.

As you can probably hear I'm having trouble getting the bass and ePiano on the beat, even though I've got quantise set to 1/6th beat.

Have I got the time sig right? Also, can I get the grid set up to help me quantise this rhythm?

Sounds like a 12/8 time sig to me.. you tried that instead of 4/4?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried it, but I think the best solution (for me) is to turn off snapping and quantize this time, ignore the grid, and use my ears.

I find it's easy to get hung up on this sort of thing, so I'll carry on for now, and fix the worst bits at th end.

Since this is a shuffle, try quantizing to 8th triplets or 16th triplets.

sounds to me like a 4/4 Quantised to the 4'th with a swing added

did you try IIR's groove templates?

I think I've worked it out now.

I've selected triplets, (thanks Ralph!) and snapping to 1/3rd note seems to do the trick.

I was trying to avoid using a groove template, because I want to be able to understand where to put the notes on the grid myself.

Thanks again to all for your help. :)
