Hi!
Kind of half a feature request and half a question for the board really... not sure which!
In my old Sonar 3 software, for each track it was possible to set a midi port/channel for input and a separate midi port/channel for output. Plus, clicking a track would make it active, unless you told it to always echo through.
This means in Sonar it is really easy to set up template tracks for multi-timbral external synths, such as an EMU proteus 2500 I have. Plus it is really easy to set up echo through and recording (with local control off) for the various controls on the Proteus.
Now, in T2 I can setup the echo through and recording of the hardware synth controls no problem, they just come in on a port, go out on a port and have record selected all the time. Exactly the same as Sonar.
But for the multi-timbral synth midi channels on output, I don't have the same 'instant click' ability. I have to drag/select the appropriate port and then change midi channel on either my master keyboard or the input device in T2.
I'm guessing this is just the normal behaviour for T2 but does anyone have a nicer way of working with multi-timbral external gear? It would be nice for it to be a little more instant, and I get confused because I can't remember which channels I have wired up to which effects (I could just write it down I guess). Ideally I want to just click a track and have it activate its remembered midi in port and channel for output. Sorry if this sounds a bit pedantic...
Thanks,
James
