Ok had a listen now.
... and, beside the fact that they totally need more SHPN, I enjoyed them. Seemed to embody a sort of youthful exploratory joy, yet are rather melancholy. Simple and repetitve, yet evolving. Nice and different from the output I am familiar with from you.
For what it's worth, I don't really feel that the second piece needs anything more at all. Keeping it rather minimal allows you to get lost in the rythm.
I look forward to your next drone piece as well.

Thanks for the feedback, Kelly, always appreciated.
I will get to work on more SHPN. You're right, sorely lacking here (although I seem to have been working at low deep rumbly noises more lately). These were very much made up of their rhythms, so I'm happy to hear that you found that to be a strength.

Cool stuff as usual - even if it's a little unusual for you. I have many old recordings of stuff like this I used to do with delays and resonators. Feedback is a good thing.
More good work music. Thanks.

I hope it's been successful. Expect a pm from me in the coming weeks with a collab proposal, I'm working on something that might like to make use of your visual touch. You™ wrote:I've been putting out fires....

i disagree with all the needs more of the sighup type of stuff im more of the opinion we whuld expand and experiment.
either way damp1 sounds cool to me,as youve noticed probably i try to make beaty stuff occassionally and yep i think beats sound much better when laced with more fx than a lucas production too
will grab the other one for later listening

As usual I find the good songs a bit later
. Listened to the second one, and like it very much. Didn't remind me of hippies though
. Very nice. The first one, the beginning, sounds to me like someone walking in a strange forest with a bass guitar and some effects, err, not very realistic what comes into my head, but I like it. Sounds like some iron boxes clapped together too.
Comb filters are nice...funnily enough, Steve, the first one as it proceeds (just listening for the first time, at about 3minutes) would remind me more of hippie-sunshine
.
I listened to non-experimental music the last days, and it's a very nice contrast. The beginning of the first is wonderful I think. But I like the 2nd more, the beginning a bit like a metallic Cembalo (err).
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, John. Let me know what you think of the second one. I admit I felt very vurt posting these, since they were a bit of a departure from most things SIGHUP and they were experiments in working with a specific new setup. But I'm with you, I don't think that a depature is a bad thing, it's all part of how we're getting on with the musicmaking.vurt wrote:i disagree with all the needs more of the sighup type of stuff im more of the opinion we whuld expand and experiment.

So you find the second one feels less hippie sunshine than the first?
I don't know how well the old Star Trek television series has travelled outside of North America, but after I was finished, part of the vibe I got from the track was this:

(This may be obvious, but) just to clarify - I was kidding about the noise/direction in these tracks.
I think it is definitely good to stretch out and do different things in your music.
