Right. I've never had bad timing issues before v2.0.2.8, now external midi is all over the place. Tried using energyXT as an arpeggiator yesterday, I've done this hundreds of times, and simple 1/16 notes are WAY off.

Midi interface is a Midisport 2x2. No problems with energyXT standalone.

Tracktion is now suddenly unusable for me, as I do rely to some extent on external hardware.

So where can I download old versions?

Yes, it does seem to be a tad looser for me too. I am also using a midisport device, mine is the 4x4, although I am only using two inputs and outputs.

I have tried just using one input/output pair, but that didn't make any difference.

I'm getting first note drops where I didn't get them with the older version of T2 and also odd timing errors. The timing errors appear not to be severe, just the odd slur here and there.

I hate to do a 'headquest' but I have been seriously looking at the other hosts again. I keep on coming back to Tracktion because of its workflow... but really, we do need to get this midi lark sorted.

Well, these errors are severe, very audible and not slight glitches. And I'm using only one midi in/out at a time.

And I'm sorry to say, after using Tracktion almost exclusively since about its birth for its workflow, I'm also looking elsewhere. Bugs reported since the beginning are still there, and about one good new feature since around v1.5.

Actually, I have to. Because of this major bug.

Ok, so I tried to download an older version by replacing the version number in the download link. Didn't work. Has anyone got v2.0.1.13 lying around?

Have you tried enabling Real Time Priority mode? (Or disabling it if you already have). This solved serious timing errors in the previous version for me.

I get some serious timing issues internally, whilst looping an 8bar part to a VST sampler in loop mode...so bad a double kick sounds as a single kick and a snare roll may sound as a double snare hit.

Anyone got any more specific details as to what the timing is doing' in my case with VST's its as if the loop lenght grows and shrinks over time as the loop ticks over, so after say 10 midi loops notes drop, then they reapear after another 10 loops.

With MAKIE behind them you think this MIDI thing would be easy to fix. I get the funny feeling that the Tracktion Team are stuck in there own office with a phone that cannot dial out to the Mackie Head office.

Mackie, please note that the MIDI "fixes" for the newest version are a total disaster, at least for me, and seemingly for a few others too.

One more thing. I seem to remember that Tracktion sends an "all controllers off" message when you press stop or end recording, but I haven't analyzed the output to confirm this. This could explain what I am experiencing with my home-built SID synth, which goes quiet (at least after a recording), forcing me to reset the patch each time. How about an option to turn off this message?

Sure, no problem.

I've also been having trouble with one edit since I upped versions. I get stutters and dropouts as long as this particular midi track is enabled, regardless of buffer settings or cpu usage. I thought I was having denormal issues with a vst, so I swapped in another and it seemed to fix it until the next day, when I opened it the problem resurfaced. I think I might try going back a version to see if it fixes this. I'll let you all know.

Well ... that option's been there for ages, under settings / miscellaneous / "Send all-controllers-off midi message when play stops"

As a stab in the dark, if you're having trouble with external midi gear on version 2.0.2.8, if you go to Settings / Audio Devices and under the Midi Devices section, if you highlight the midi output you're sending to, are "Send Midi Timecode" and "Send Midi Clock" turned on or off? Do things get any better if you toggle either or both to the other setting?

Er... yes.... sorry. Hadn't noticed that at all.

And for the other point, they're turned off. And it doesn't make a difference.
