Well, I don't have a FX2000, I have a FX 8000, 6ch version. :hihi:

Yes, the noise is a problem but sintefex provide the exact information on the fan inside which can be changed and the hard-disk turns itself off if you set it so in the preferences (mine is set to 20 seconds).

Got it so cheap that I've been thinking of selling it to gain some profit but as it's quite a nice machine and can do 5.1 work I think I will have to hold on to it.

Cheers!

Yes, put your favorite "coloring" master limiter last and I think you will get closer to a h/w mastering sound. That's what I do (with Elemental Finis, TbT Pocket Limiter, and WWAYM Dynamix).

I was thinking more of a saturation plug like the one from voxengo..before or after the EQ's?

The rule is "correct" first "color" or "sweeten" second. BTW I just mentioned the rule so you can tell when you're breaking it to make something sound better... :D

With this, I do not agree at all though. High-end analogue EQ simply sounds so different to any kind of digital eq that it makes BOTH very valuable and much needed, imho of course. :)

I figured we were on the opposite bank of the river on
that one. :hihi:

Why do you feel analog EQ is obsolete? Do you feel that way about other analog gear?

EQ in particular as there are alternatives that do what
they should better, and faster already.

For the rest analogue gear holds its own, microphones
with custom tubes, and different compressors etc.
I won’t get into cabling issues (power supply) and that
whole bag of tricks.

Edit, EQ is the FX that needs the least attention atm.
Just look at UAD, compression is next.
