Bad hung MIDI notes problem

I have a constant problem with HUNG MIDI NOTES using T2.0.2.8. I also had the porblem with T2.0.13 I am almost ready to say farewell to T2 because of this.
My PC is: WinXP home on Asus P4B533 board with P42.4Ghx/1GbRAM + Echo MIA sound and GeforceFX5200 video + Roland USB midi interface. The PC has no IRQ conflicts, has the latest drivers for audio and video, and I have even tried swapping out the video card for another...all with the same result.
The problem is this. When using any VST-i's or external midi modules and playing a new midi part in when there is already a previously recorded midi part on another track ALWAYS, ALWAYS results in constant hung midi notes. This problem occurs even when using my best VST-i's (such as Korg's, which are flawless in other apps). I have used my DAW with Logic, Cubase and Fruity with NO problems regarding hung midi notes. It simply appears that Tracktion is not properly sending critical midi 'notes off' messages. This is a crippling bug for me as I write most of my tracks in midi.
Interestingly, I also tested the early versions of Tracktion 1 on another PC and suffered exactly the same hung midi notes problem. I have a hunch that since the start of Tracktion not enough attention has been paid to getting the midi side of things robust as would be expected of a commercial piece of software.
I looked back at some older posts in April and May (read "...midi issues" thread) and it seems there are quite a few people out there with this same issue with T2. Since nothing officially has been done about this - can anyone tell me if there is some kind of workaround ??

So, just to clarify;
You have two tracks. One has midi recorded on it, and plays a VSTi
The other has a midi input connected to it, and has a different VSTi on it. You play your midi controller. Which track starts having hung notes?

I find that some vsti's get far more hung notes than others. I have only used Tracktion extensively so I wonder if this is a Vsti problem or a Tracktion Problem. Do other hosts have hung note problems?

No, such stuff does not happen in proper hosts.

Actually, it does. But thanks for the input.püRe wrote:No, such stuff does not happen in proper hosts.

i generally find that hung midi notes happen a lot more when the latency is set too low and i guess some of the midi messages are getting lost.

Actually it doesn't matter if it they are VSTi's or external hardware synths being driven by the midi data - the problem is the the same. It also doesn't matter what controller keyboard you use.
The problem happens when playing a midi part via a midi keyboard in a section of the song where there is already midi data recorded on other tracks. The stuck notes are the notes of the midi synth or softsynth that you are playing "live".
I don't get this problem when running other hosts such as Logic or Fruity or Cubase on my computer (even with low latencies) only when I run Tracktion. In fact on my PC the 'stuck notes' problem with Tracktion 1.xx was identical to the problem with the most current version of Tracktion (2.0.2.
Back in April there were a lot of posts about this - people either had one of two problems a) dropped first notes of a midi part or b) hung notes.
Increasing the latency is not really an option - having low latency is the reason my softsynths are now musical and playable in the first place.
I have just been told by Mackie support to "Try nudging everything one measure so you have a blank measure." Perhaps this means 'nudging' forward data to leave a blank measure ?? (at the end of the midi part ??). Surely this won't stop hung notes that occur while playing along with previously recorde midi...?

Trying to be specific with the questions here, so if you have two tracks, one has data on it driving a soft synth, the other you are playing live. The one that you're playing live, if you play a sequence that goes A, C, E (for example), do all three notes hang, or only the last one?
Does it only happen when there's another note at the same time you're playing a note?
What midi channel is the clip set to, and what channel is your controller sending on?
Can you increase the latency as a test to see if it still happens? No'one's suggesting leaving it too high, but it would help if you would actually test it.

Mate, I've seen this before!!!
You need to run the "DropFix" (search this forum) plugin before all your VST synths and instruments without question this is still an issue, worse for some than others and gets worse in loop mode for me.
For me, Its Battery 2 which causeses problems, and its only in some edits. Often Audio Drops out, or notes drop when being looped. Depending, I find, on what your doing in the transport, enabling disabling e-to-e, or Punch for example may or may not add a glitch to the edit. Once, the edit is corrupt with glitches there is not much I can do, sometimes clicking to the settings tab can fix it, or disabling loop, exporting an archive, deleting clips, may or may not fix it.
I find the most current version seems to have added some funny glitches so I am running the previous version still on my Dual-Boot system, But, I still use the Drop fix even on MIDI going to external synths as it helps.
