Does anyone know if Filterscape works on the Receptor?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Oh yes! I can't believe I've never tried to install this bundle on Receptor! I've just installed all three plug-ins and am pleased to report I successfully registered them and they work fine

I just installed them as normal, then registered as normal (Typing my name and serial into the register box). Nothing special was involved!

As normal? As in just putting them in the unsupported directory? And then using then using Remote to install them? That's what I did and they fail.Ben [KVR] wrote:I just installed them as normal, then registered as normal (Typing my name and serial into the register box). Nothing special was involved!
This is the upseting thing about this whole deal; one person's Receptor can do something while another's can't. I've installed Cameleon, Glitch, M42, Betabugs, Ohmforce:Melo PE, Wusikstation, Bass Station and V-station without trouble. I use the same method, too. Weird.
Oh well, time for a drink! Crown and Coke, please!

Ah HA!!! Found a bug!!!
If you attach to the Receptor with a Mac and try to drag files over that have certain characters in the filename, it will stop the file transfer when it gets to that particular file. Not so with Windows. I saw this when I was trying to install Filterscape. One of the preset files has a "+" in the filename and it stops there on a Mac. I fired up Virtual PC and transfered the same EXACT files with no trouble.
Strange!
Edit - Just created a patch file in Live 5 with a + sign in the preset name. I tried to drop it in the "drop files here" directory on the Receptor and it chokes on it. So, I copied to my Virtual PC session and did the same thing but it transfered okay. There must be some filename restriction for the Mac and not the Windows session. Hmmm....

Well, it seems that all Receptors aren't built alike because there's no way it's going to install on my system. I've tried and tried and tried. Fails everytime. I'm using beta 1.4. Are you using a newer beta? If so, you should probably mention that. If not, well, I'm screwed.... oh the shame, the agony!Ben [KVR] wrote:I just installed them as normal, then registered as normal (Typing my name and serial into the register box). Well, I'm buying the next round. Bartender! Tab is on me.

I don't have Receptor, but I recently reinstalled xp and got that msvcr71 error when loading filterscape. Turns out it was because all the u-he plugins require Microsoft .NET 1.1 (or whatever the latest is). I got it from windows update and that fixed it.
Not sure if you can do that on receptor somehow??

aha, an easy fix!
When a plug-in installation fails you can check the system log, as you have done here, to see why it failed (hopefully, sometimes it just gives you an unhelpful "exception occurred" type of message).
From your log entry above we can see that Filterscape requires an MS Runtime Library DLL that is not shipped on Receptor - MSVCR71.dll. This occurs because Filterscape was compiled to link to an external DLL library (which would normally be present on a current Windows system) rather than building the library into the DLL. This is of course common practice.
We can resolve this by copying the relevant library DLL to Receptor's <hard drive>\Windows\System\ folder. I had already done this for a previous plug-in installation so didn't realise Filterscape required it!
Windows users can generally find the required files on their computer (usually in C:\Windows\System\ or C:\Windows\System32\), Mac users can download DLLs for free from www.dll-files.com. You can get MSVCR71.DLL here
Once copied you should delete the Filterscape*.dll-FAILED files and attempt to install them again. Bear in mind if they fail again it may be because they require further MS library DLLs - keep checking the system log.

Oh, cool! Do I have the proper permissions to write to that directory? I remember, years ago, that there was some runtime library for Visual Basic (VBRUNxx.DLL) that was left out of a lot of programs. It was annoying trying to find the "latest" edition. That file should probably be included with all Receptors, eh? Hmmmm... that makes me think that some of the other "failed" plug-ins might have suffered the same thing. Cool... well, I can try that when I get home.Ben [KVR] wrote:aha, an easy fix!

Thanks Floyd! Seems there might be a fix for this problem. It's been years since I've played around under the hood of a Windows box.floyd wrote:I don't have Receptor, but I recently reinstalled xp and got that msvcr71 error when loading filterscape.
