The Doepfer modular is actually called the A-100. There's no 101 system, though; the designation A-1xx (where xx is above 00) is used for single modules. There are actually three A-101 modules, the A-101-1, A101-2, and A101-3, all based on Vactrols...

Yup. Got a MIDI A-100 (their 'standard' 2-row configuration) off ebay a coupla months ago. Just put in an order for a second rack and the first couple of modules to go in it.

And Ive just received one of Doepfer's analogue sequencers (the 'Kraftwerk helped us design it' MAQ 16/3) off ebay to go with it all.

so that you've been ordering additional stuff means that you're pretty satisfied with it?

(tbh I'm lusting for a Doepfer modular-system for quite some time now though there's no way for me to afford it right now

Yeah, pretty much. Although I wanted more of it straight away.

That's the main advantage, really, of the Doepfer; the range of modules available (not just from Doepfer themselves). The basic A-100 is a pretty good 'workhorse' configuration, but it can be taken in so many ways once you start adding to it. The two oscillators on the basic A100, for example, are definitely decent, but there are quite a few interesting modules available for getting much more out of even one of them (like the VC waveshaper, or the wave multiplier). And there's a hell of a range of different filters, for example...

Yeah. My first synth, when I was 18, was a modular. I sold it bout ten years later, got back into this stuff, and totally regretted having lost it. This is me making up for that

yes, that's exactly what attracts me about it - the ever increasing number of both innovative and traditional modules you get for it - htere's the morphing-filter, the ribbon-controller, the Theremin-controller, the Trautonium-filter, etc. - and once you got a basic system you can expand it bit by bit without having to spend a fortune at once...

yeah, thats the 100m model. its the 100(101+102) that im talking about the filter confusion.
moogulator.de says its a 12db, and peter forrest says its the same as a 303 (18db i presume)
trust me, i have read everywhere on the web relating to them. all reviews all web blogs that google can find;)

and it isnt so much the specs of the thing im bothered about, its the sound of the thing. specs dont mean anything really.

and i will certainly be adding some doepfer stuff to it.

i want a sem filter, and ribbons are nice, (a pressure ribbon would be ace)
and a oberkorn will be there somewhere too:)
