Having a mixer view tab in Tracktion
goes against the philosophy of having everything you need on one screen. I bought Tracktion for this very reason alone. The ease of use and host of other features are just par for the course. Being able to see all the events and tracks while playing back without switching to a mixer view to tweek the compressor is awesome! Don't listen to 'em Julian!!

I was fortunate enough to have never tried anything else, hardware or software, before linking up with Tracktion, so have never really been exposed to the "mixer" concept so many desire. I have looked at other programs since then, and the concept of having this hardware emulated mixer just doesn't make sense. To each their own I guess though. The Tracktion concept just seems to be a common sence approach to developing and recording music.

I'm not missing your point, I just don't agree with it. And frankly, I don't give a toss about people who screw up their faces and move to Cubase.

Why are you even giving your clients options? You tell them, "The tape is rolling" and then you mix their project. If they're peeking and go, "where is the mixer? What's this weird program", you say, "ah, this is a cool program called Tracktion, which I really believe is the way forward."

They're buying your services, not an option between different softwares that result in the same goal.

As for retail... again, I really don't care for whether or not somebody gets wet when they see fake brushed aluminum and fake glowy LED's. That's their business. It's a destructive and pointless pursuit adding features just because you anticipate that it will make some people more "comfortable". There's a free demo of Tracktion. Let the informed client try it before buying it. That's about all.

Right on Greg! The only time my clients are aware of Tracktion is when they say "Bloody hell you did that edit fast!" and I say "Yeah, this software is great!"

i was thinking the same thing when i read the post about the mouse only controlling 1 fader at a time

but then i thought dose a touch screen support multipal thingies?? (you know what i'm trying to ask <like being able to move 2 things with different fingers at the same time>)

All the touchscreens I've used were only a single touch/click at a time. Just like a mouse. And that appears to be a hardware limitation with the resistive/capacitive designs.

I think you're right. My Toyota Prius has a touch screen. I'm gonna go try to touch two things at once.

I'm not sure what you mean. If it were an overlay on your main T screen, things would get pretty hectic, I would think. I'd have to see a screenshot to imagine the possibilities. I certainly wouldn't write it off as a good idea, I just might not be visualizing it very well.

But yeah, I think touch-screen computers only have one function. The Lemur's technology hints that it's not 'impossible' to have a multi-touch screen, though!

Thinking a bit more about it, I think you're right in that it would get a bit busy.
Did a quick search on multitouch screens and the technology is out there but seems to be used mainly in niche/specialized products.

I took a look at some of the information on the Lemur and they have an interface available for Live. Not the best looking interface but you can see how it would work.
