There is no worse than 90's I'm afraid.

I would take that as a compliment:)

90's crap pop music, euro dance, repetitive meaningless techno/trance crap without any substance or form sound to me much more dated than either Tears for Fears or Thompson Twins. In fact they don't sound dated to me at all, let alone their songs which are frequently covered by "new" artists. "Shout" and "Everybody wants to rule the world" sound to me as fresh as they did 20 years ago. I sincerely doubt that in 20 years anybody would do covers of meaningless, repetitivne, melody and substance deprived trance, techno, dnb or similar "quasy music".

About me and getting dated:

When my dad was just married, one day he had to pass the cemetary at dusk. Suddenly, a strange man appeared in front of him, speaking in an old, strange dialect. He offered my father all the riches of the world, all the huri's in heaven, all the fish in the sea - in return, my father would have to let his wife alone that night, without telling anyone, ever.

This is where the Beatles arrive in the story. My dad was a big fan, just like anyone in those days. But The Beatles hadn't always been the object of mass psychosis. At first, they were lucky to play in a German beer cellar for crying out loud, and then - all of the sudden: world wide hysteria. Didn't that ever strike you as awkward?

My dad asked the little man what he was up to, jokingly accusing him of being the devil, plotting to sleep with his wife. "Quite the observer you are", the sulphuric little man said, "you're quite right. The Beatles have sold me their souls in exchange for never getting out of date, and the son you're about to conceive tonight will change all that! So, let me make sure your wife's womb stays closed for your mere mortal sperm the next 9 months"

The big unanswered question is... what did my dad do that night?

I was married in the not so distant past. Now I´d like to date somebody, but so far, nobody likes to date me. Something to worry about. :help:

But I have all the time in the world for music...

I'm making mostly techno/house with the occasional weird pastiche of any old style on the side ...

I'm "so nineties"

Electronic music (and other types of music to a growing extent) seems constantly to outdate itself faster and faster still - a fact that kind of worries me, or is it just me? I'm not trying for the "cutting edge" but it still worries me the tiniest bit...

Should I give a fcuk anyway?

I see this rambling is going nowhere, I think it's just fuzzy sentiment along with a mild case of S_A_D :)

Who knows...
Is music becoming outdated faster and faster?
Do such categories even apply?

So if you feel like discussing this, for all I know this might turn into a 20-pager, or end with this post!

Marco :)
Old-School? Yes! :D

Dated? No.

Electrronic Music needs to be funky again. So let us all do our part & change the game.

Put on the ring again and pretend you're married...it should work.
