Can't get it to work; searched this forum & others - saw others with same problem...but no answers.
Was wondering if there has been any resolution? Or just any information? Does mackie or ableton know what the prob is & is one of them trying to fix it?
I have support requests in to each company, but so far no word.

I'm from Austin too.
So, on your Live 5 audio track you don't have the option to select Tracktion as a input?
I use Live 5 and P5v2. Don't have T2 but haven't heard of them not working together.
I hope they are working on it if it's a bug.

correct - if i have a midi track in live5 with an instrument loaded on it (which outputs audio) I expect to be able to select Tracktion (or 'Rewire Host' or something like that) as the midi input, and as well select a rewire bus as the output for that track ... no such options.
Ableton has detailed instructions for setting up Live5 as a Rewire slave for most daw/sequencers such as protools, nuendo, cubase, sonar, etc..., but sadly no information for Tracktion. Perhaps because it doesn't work?
Ironically, I bought Live5 because of a 'crossgrade' offer they had for users of various daw software, which included Tracktion. I've used most of the big name audio packages, but love the simplicity and unique look & feel of Tracktion...and it's priced well. And as a software developer, I appreciate the 'tightness' of apps conceived and written by one or a few people.

Well... I don't have T2, so I won't be much help. I have had Live since 2.0, so maybe I can be of some help there if you every need it.

I've just set up a student's ibook to use T2 and Live 5 demo rewired. It worked great. I don't think the platform difference is an issue.
What steps have you taken so far? Without knowing, I'll walk through them here.
1 activate Rewire on T2 settings page
2 drop filter on a track in T2 and select rewire
3 select Ableton Live rewire device in the filter property panel
4 launch Live - you should get a warning that Live is acting as rewire slave
5 load a sample/loop into one of the session slots and press play
6 IF T2 and LIVE DO NOT START UP and SYNC, QUIT LIVE, THEN TRACKTION
7 RESTART T2, repeat steps
For some reason, the rewire client doesn't always work the first time. After restarting, things are super easy. Transport controls for either program work both. This is also true for markers and looping regions. Obviously, Live really shines here, timestretching on the fly to match any tempo changes in T2 immediately.
To render Live to T2, insert a blank midi clip, select the rewired track, click render and select add to project so you don't have to repeat the rewire setup for the next track. I'm also fairly sure you can set up multiple track feeds simultaneously using rewire channels.
Midi input can't be routed out of Tracktion to Live but either program can recieve midi from your interface. I prefer to record midi directly into live and edit it there before rendering the audio output into T2.
Best thing is all of this can be done with the FREE Live 5 demo. That's like getting a heck of a plug in for T2. If you own Live, you can export the midi files to edit in Tracktion, save & render projects. When using rewire mode, remember to always start Live after Tracktion and quit Live before T2.

Thanks, I just successfully rewired them for the first time.

I'm glad you got it worked out. I have never used Rewire to send midi data, just synch transport and pipe the audio.
Have you watched the DJ with Live video on the Ableton site?

I've only been able to pipe audio and control transports. Midi is an either or thing here. Since I like Live's built in simpler, impulse and operator so much, I don't mind.
I did try a test to confirm. Midi input registers in both but won't route from live to T2. However, if you record midi input, you can easily output the audio from the midi device to T2 via rewire. I think I just repeated myself. Would love to be proven wrong though.
If your midi is repeating, you need to read up on midi recording/editing in Live. Double clicking a session slot gives you a one bar loop, handy for drums but not practical for longer phrases. You want to click the triangle once to engage recording without fixing the length.

Come to think of it, if anyone absolutely needs to route midi from Live to Tracktion or the other way around and back, I've seen apps referenced that do this. I think one is midipipe.

I do know that any MIDI/VST device attached to Live5 will not function (assuming a T2 ReWire Master & Live5 reWire Slave). That's in the Live5 doco.

Thinking about it, i'm clearly talking bollocks.
