I can't personally sing their songs, don't suppose I've tried. But there are enough people in the world capable of that level of performance that Beyonce's talents are diminished in my view, because of that fact.

Maybe I confuse skill with talent? But still...someone who can write top 10 hit after top 10 hit...I swear that could be called a talent. I have to, for example, grudgingly recognize that Bob Dylan is a talent, even though it's totally lost on me.

Anyway, I'm not attacking, just seemed a little harsh to me, wanted to clarify.

I like destiny's child. I think they're one of the few pop acts out there that play some good stuff. Kida sad they're breaking up, but all good things must come to an end I guess.

Look.. it's like this. I see the concept of talent as a reflection of one persons opinion and observations - analysing and dissection.

And you seem to see it as some ethereal thing that floats around the earth picking random people to instill itself in. (correct me if I'm wrong)

A talent is not an ability. Hey look, I make a really nice cup of tea, does that mean I have some extraordinary gift for making tea? Lol, of course not, it's just something I learnt.

I think the same about Beyonce's singing. Sure, she can sing, I never said otherwise. But that was something she learnt and honed. Much like learning Japanese (which I'm currently attempting) or any other subject.

I guess my entire point to bring it around and conclude this, is that it's not such a loss. There are thousands, millions probably, of Destiny's Child's just waiting to be picked up by the next hotshot A&R guy.

There are also thousands and millions of audiogeekboy's like myself just doing music for the sheer love and thrill of it... but hey... none or very few of us are actually gonna see any money from it

this whole talent thing has a lot to do with marketing in the contemporary music industry imo. some bands, people are just products of pure marketing genius. spice girls anyone? or those stupid-ass boy bands? looks come before the level of talent most of the time. popular real talent is scarce. i'll pull out 10 constipated-looking versions of beyonce from my right pocket and 5 from my left. i assure you they won't look half as good but they'll sing 10 times better. none of the destiny's child girls have out-of-this-world talent. anyone who claims they do have not seen anything better because they know only what they see on tv.

i'm not a fan of the manufactured pop either. however, i both heard and saw shakira for the first time the other day. her vocals rival kate bush and sinead oconnor. but(t), she was slitherin around half naked like all the other pop queens. what gives?
