Normally I'd say it's a shame they're breaking up but seing that Beyoncee and Kelly's solo work has been better than the last DC output maybe it's for the better anyway. Michelle is probably just gonna fade away. I'm sure the break up is not gonna benefit her.

Lady J - listened to that "I Got my Eye on you". Really liked it - however, I would have liked to hear it with the vocals. How far away are those?
Would be a bit of a shame if you ditched this site though. It's nice having some slick pop represented here. Some of us like it believe it or not.

Vocals are done and were mixed but then Ina came up with an even better ending and so I had to re-record it. I wasn't entirely happy with my vocal on this tune as far as delivery but its a different kinda tune.Caleb wrote:Lady J - listened to that "I Got my Eye on you". For now the text of the lyrics will have to do.
Also this is the first tune where I sing lead. The first one "It's Our Style" has Ina singing lead and me and Yaya singing backup. The next tune we do will feature Yaya singing lead. We're The Backups...Get it? We all sing backup hehe.
Thanks but I've always maintained that I'd be on KvR only as long as time allowed. As things are becoming more busy for me, and us I can not be on KvR so much (which is why i've been gone). Performing, practicing, and just having a very busy life preclude me from being on KvR a lot and i doubt my publicist would approve of some of the things i've written here hehehe.Would be a bit of a shame if you ditched this site though. There are plenty of other slick popsters here. t-willy ain't bad, sleek month, and others... it just depends on the style of pop i guess.
i've tended to represent more of an RnB/Dance/PopRock think here but there are many others.
besides, the whole reason i came here, to learn how computers and plug ins could benefit my songwriting and learning how to mix on my home studio monitors has been accomplished. i know how to use plug ins now, and i have a producer and engineer who are capable of mixing..
my producer complimented me on that mix of "I Got My Eye On You" so i think i've 'got it' for my rough draft demo mixes...
now on to the real work of popdom...
scales
trills
choreography
oh and shopping

The Backups - I Got My Eye On You
Music: J.L. Lyrics: I.T.
intro
you got my eye on
you got my eye on
you got my eye on
you got my eye on
pre-verse
you i got my eye on you i got my eye on you (8x)
verse 1
it was a night like any night
the club was packed and jumpin
you walked in and caught my eye
my heart was steady thumpin
u got the look u got the moves
theres simply no resistance
i have better things to do
but i can't keep my distance
never strayed before tonight
you got my body rockin
even tho i love my guy
opportunity was knockin
i shake and shudder with desire
its like im drug addicted
do i really love my guy
i am so conflicted
chorus:
i got my eye on you tonight
i got my eye on you that's right
i got my eye on you tonight
you caught my eye
caught my eye
verse 2:
if my crime is wanting you
i'm guilty like a felon
my man is good and sweet and true
and i will never tell him
commonsense tells me to stop
but that won't cloud my vision
you and i are hooking up
i made a snap decision
i want you bad i cant deny
a tricky situation
letting you out of my sight
would cause me desperation
hope you see that im for real
you really are appealing
on the dancefloor i can tell
you're feeling what i'm feeling
chorus:
i got my eye on you tonight... (2x)
bridge:
me and you and him and me
and you and him and everything
me and you and him and me
and you and him and everything
me and you and him and me
and you and him and everything
me and you and him and me
and you and him and everything
verse 3:
i'll take a chance on losing him
im ready for the damage
if he really loves me then
i guess he'll have to manage
who could blame me you're so fine
you're such a sexy dancer
just the way you move your thighs
wont take no for an answer
wondering what i can do
you got me acting funny
what will it take to get with you
i''ll even pay you money
i got a little fantasy
where we could all be happy
me and you and him and me
we straight up do the nasty
chorus 3:
i got my eye on you tonight (2x)

Check her out playing the drums and guitar on her Mongoose Tour DVD.
She's a rock girl, straight up.

Yes.. yes you did.Meloday wrote:I forgot what a great voice Dylan hadAndrew Vernon wrote:Dude... the Crazy Frog track got to number one here in the UK.... are you seriously suggesting the charts are a good reflection of ones ability as an artist?
Bob Dylan really is one of the great song writers, but of course I say that because I like his songs. If I didn't like his songs, then I would hardly consider him a great song writer would I?
I mean sure.. there are what everyone else considers great.. but I'm more about what I consider great.

I quite liked a few DC songs (our lass & my daughter liked them for a while, so I got used to hearing them).
Saw them live on something onetime, tbh didn't really rate them live at all (& this was early on in the show - so it wasn't fatigue), seen as good with the better quality contestants on pop-idol etc.
They have good producers blah blah blah, they are all pretty 'fit' in their own ways.
Would they have been anywhere as successful if they weren't as stunning looking?
Personally I don't think so, not that i'm complaining - I don't mind a bit of eye candy, but recently I seem to see more eye-candy than ever, with poorer vocal talents than ever croppin up.
Maybe i'm just a jaded old(ish) twat.

the last destinys child single i heard cracked me up - it was like independent woman in rewind - beyonce and co telling some bloke how theyll make him pies and let him get a leg over when he comes in late at night, etc etc. Lady J, im astounded youd support such chavaunistic hegemonic pop. or something.
come on you ..... lets have some aphex acid.
