Wireless broadband. Costs slightly more than ADSL but I can connect it anywhere and I didn't have to get it re-routed when I moved, etc. Worth every penny.GypsyJazz wrote:So then how do you connect to the net?BONES wrote:That's only people's blinkered stupidity. i've never ever had a land-line, but my adsl works great with just the copper that every house has just in case someone would want a land-line ..
i myself have found mobile phones extremely useful in everyday situations. but as with everything: if you're happy with what you've got, nobody should force you to change it.
i was never happy with a land line, and knew i wanted a cellular phone much earlier than they started marketing them. now i'm happy.

Musicians stealing music. WTF.

Really? I'd rather have mine stolen by plumbers. Or maybe copyright lawyers. That'd be kind of interesting, wouldn't it?moonlite wrote:then again, i'd rather have musicians steal my music than anyone else ,)

Dunno how you manage that. Our local calls are free, and those are the vast majority of calls I make, apart from the international ones to the UK for family etc. I know of no mobile system that will let me call the UK for less than a landline, and the cost of rental is less than the cost of local mobile calls. I certainly can't speak to the UK on a mobile for 2 hours for less than $6.That's only people's blinkered stupidity. I cancelled my landline the day I got a mobile and have been paying less for my phone service ever since.
Mobiles are almost the biggest scourge of civilised and polite society IMO. So many people lose all sense of manners once they have that stupid thing in their hand. iPods will be the next
Closely followed by internet mailing, as so many people lose their f**king manners when they communicate by e-mail. So suck on that arsewipe.

I hate mobile phones, but that's because everywhere I turn, I hear at least three go off every minute and I see people on them ignoring everything else and often disregarding everyone around them (being rude etc., not watching where they're walking and even not watching where they're driving despite its illegality).
If people used them responsibly and a lot less I would only hate them from a personal bias against being able to be contacted wherever I go. What if I want some peace and disconnection? Turn it off? So then some of the point of a mobile is gone.
Regardless, it has reached the point of stupidity. There are people who are frequently buying new mobile phones for reasons ranging from not wanting to pay extra to get the mobile off the native line (whatever you call it), or a different look, or a million features like videos etc that you don't need or necessarily even want on a mobile phone... Society has just gone mobile phone mad. I don't mind an all-in-one mobile solution, but we have not reached it and societies maturity level has not reached the point where we're ready for such constant access to all features (what about the millions of people taking photos of anyone who may not even want to be photoed? Privacy, what's that?)
Anyway.

You've never had a landline, I understand. Your ADSL works great with just the copper? What on earth are you talking about? Don't you need a landline subscription to get access to the networks that allow your ADSL connections to go through? If not, there's something I don't know that I badly do want to know.moonlite wrote:i've never ever had a land-line, but my adsl works great with just the copper that every house has just in case someone would want a land-line ..
