A slightly different use of T2

I never thought that my first use of T2 would be to provide voice-over for cartoon characters in a flash video game, but that's the way things have worked out.

A friend of mine is a graphic artist and he has a concept for a kiddie book of sleuthing based on Bible characters. It's all very cute stuff - those of you familiar with Veggie Tales will know the sort of thing that he is shooting for.

Anyhow, T2 made it very easy for me to provide him with the basic .wav files that he could then compress and then include in the flash application.

In T2, I recorded the script for one of the kids (I used 3 of my kids as 3 of the different characters) just into one track; pausing in the take while I coached the kids to use some more emotion, etc.) into one track.

Then, I simply sliced out the non-useful clips from the track, and named each of the keep clips appropriately according to what was being said in the clip. (Is there a way to auto fade in/out in T? that was the only time consuming element of the project - putting in a slight fade in/out for each clip), then if I had just that clip selected, rendering automatically names the rendered .wav the same thing as the clip name.

On my youngest son's clips, his voice sounded too young for the character (the one called Ben), so I pitch shifted his track by 2 semi-tones - making him sound about 4 years older.

There is also a robot voice that I did, pitch shifted it up and mangled it somewhat, mixed with some Oli Larkin SE64 synth sounds, and that was it.

I delivered all of the content to him on a jump drive, and he compressed it down for flash. Of course, the compression makes it all sound kind of harsh!!

Enough talk about it - here is the work-in-progress site:

BibleScouts

The game is the airplane flyer game down in the lower right corner. (not working exactly right in Firefox)

No. I pestered jules years ago for the clip fade tools to honor multiple selections, but nothing came of it. It seems logical to me that if resizing one clip when two clips are selected also resizes the other, that the same thing should hold true for the clip fade tool. Perhaps this can be considered a bump for that particular request!

I can't check out the site 'cos I'm a) using FireFox, and b) on a linux box without flash installed.

I'll look at it when I get home.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

I'll stick a third request for this feature. It would have come in extremely useful this morning! (So a "time machine" feature would be good, too)

Veggi-Tails? My good friend had a Veggi-tails tomato lead him to the Lord!

That seems like such a no brainer workflow choice. Features do take time though... I add my vote.

I was not around back in the day when Jules used to post to the forum, and I have no real evidence when I say that I get the impression that he is not so interested in Tracktion anymore.

The girl's voice is my 8 yr. old's voice. She's the drama queen of the family, so putting some emotion into it was not a stretch for her.
