A.W., I don't think they had your "intelligence" in mind when they wrote that song. I'm pretty sure the purpose of "my humps" was to make something stupid yet repetitive that will get stuck in your head, will make it to the top of every chart, and will make lots of money for a record company. And, they successufully accomplished that. For a deeper thinkers, they have "don't lie" which is being played side-by-side with "my humps" on all the radio station and also topping the same charts.

I already forgot when music business was about "music", today its all about bu$ine$$.

well sure if you wanna define their musical marketing tactics as intelligence, sure.. But the music itself?? Thats what im talking about. If it aint real, I dont wanna know about it. If you are spreading what aint real, you are wasting the worlds time. Slowing evolution. You are punishing the planet. hehehe

well, the black community have always been the ones coming out with bold new ideas in music.

Think Juimmy Hendrix, Otis Redding etc.

Think Ray Charles. He was very controversial in his beginnings.

Heck Stevie Wonder was hailed in my circle of friends as being silly. Now he will be a legend once he is dead (no harm meant).

Give the music 10 years and lets see...

I am always surprised at what can be acheived with such minimalim...

hah, didnt realise it was BEP, pissed myself when I heard it, really shite...and so is the vid....the lyrics are like something from a South Park episode

Lyrics like this just encourage women with saggy boobs and fat asses. I don't know if it's healthy to support the notion that guys actually have a preference for an ass that's two axe-handles wide. Not only do you have a fat ass, but you think it's worth money.

And have the Cocoa Puffs people sent any letters about their trademark?

In all fairness, I have to admit the "So Real..." part of the song isn't bad at all. Shame, really. Is the jazz piano bit lifted from something else? It's pretty nice, with the high string synth and the tabla, claves, fingersnaps and zils.

Maybe you just have a high expectations from them based on their previous releases? How can you define "real"? Its just a relative term, something that is not real to you, could be "real" to a bunch of a drunk college students in a bar dancing and making an arse out of themselve under the disco light? Of course, if you have been a big fan of this band and loved all of their music, this could be dissapointing. But, you just have to take it easy, and don't get too upset about it

Puleeease, People, back up and take an historical look at the industry. Have you already forgotten Karen Carpenter's "Ticket to Ride," or Manilow's "I Write the Songs"? :hihi: :hihi: While you all argue that "HUMPS" is completely empty and devoid of music, at least consider that it has a danceable beat, unlike the 2 aforementioned examples. :hihi: :hihi:

:D Yes, obviously I'm into my troll mode today. Truthfully, we had our share of really lowly, bad material in my gen's hayday, but there was also that redeeming material that brought the average up: Chicago's wonderful horn section, Chuck Mangionne, etc. But today, where are the diamonds in the rough? It's all just roughage anymore. There are no great solos, there are no great synth sounds, there are no great voices. It's all lame music with a beat, wimpy lyrics with an attitude, all set to a monotoned, motonous beat.

Enough time wasted, already, I'm audihere.

Along with "The Whisper Song" by the Ying Yang Twins, it's one of the worst songs I've heard in ages.
