Firebox issues

Has anyone had any success using the PreSonus Firebox with T2 on the Mac platform? I've tried it on both my G4 Powerbook 1Ghz and my Imac G5 1.7Ghz and its extremely sketchy - doesen't show up in T2 inputs & doesn't show up in the Apple System Profiler as even being connected to the Firewire bus. The one time I did get it to show up it caused the whole system to run weirdly and and crashed T2. It reminds me of the days of working in OS9 with extension conflicts.
I would love to hear any thoughts on this problem, or suggestions on a firewire interface that actually works. I want to spend the little time I have making music without being frustrated by trying to get audio and MIDI into the T2 software, which by the way is great. Thanks to any and all help.

Sorry I didn't catch this sooner.chance11 wrote:I'm running OSX ( Panther ) with no problems
I just set up a Firebox for another person with a Mac and T2. I use a Firepod and swear by it...never had an issue ever.
To start I recommend two things: (1) try a different firewire cable, (2) can you exchange it at the store? Some fools have been running the FirePOD update on the FireBOX, effectively killing it. I don't know why the Firebox even accepts the update, but anyway it does and then needs to be serviced by Presonus.
Get back to me; we'll get you sorted out.

I've had no problems with my firebox although here are a few things to consider: Don't share the firewire hub with anything else i.e., a hard drive, etc. This caused a crash and is the fault of apples hub configuration. And the firebox can be a bit of a cpu hog so I'd recommend using the ac adapter to minimize this. Otherwise, it should work well with a mac using tiger. There customer support is really helpful and friendly so I'd try giving them ring if need be. Hope this helps. Adiostrdrew wrote:No help from anyone?
