Updated "prep installers" for Collosus and PMI Bos

I read this in the news release:

Three previously available plug-in "prep" installers have also received updates to fix a DFD problem.
...
* Colossus
* EWQLSO Gold Edition
* PMI Bösendorfer 290 Grand Piano

I just bought a Collosus/Receptor bundle a few weeks ago (enjoying the heck out of it). One of my disappointements, though, has been DFD. I had to turn it off on Electik Piano, Collosus and Bosen to make them not eat the CPU Alive (ie use them with other plug-ins simultaneously). For Collosus and Electik Piano, it's not that much of a problem, but for Bosen, it means I cannot load the really big ones (nor the Steinway in Collosus).

So my question is, do I need this update? My versions say this:

PMI Bosen:
1.0.3.0010
DFD 1.2.9

COLLOSUS
1.0.6.002
DFD 1.2.9

Electrik Piano
1.0.2.037
DFD 1.2.9

Just to see, I uninstalled Bosen, downloaded the new "prep installer" and reinstalled. The versions show as the same and I don't see any improvement in DFD performance. Is there something else I need to do here? Or do I have the latest DFD version?

Thanks in advance

The updated installers use the same DFD version 1.2.9 but has an optimised DFD buffer setting which works better on receptors as 'default'. Thats all. BTW you dont need to uninstall ur plugins to do these updates. U can just install on top of the pre-existing ones.

Excellent, Thanks for that! I will give the new "default" DFD settings a try tonight and see if they help my situation.

I sure would like to know just what kind of performance you get out of it after updating. I had to up the buffers to as high as she goes to even use the Steinway. It does not seen to affect latency but I can't have anything else (like strings) layered. CPU shows nothing but Dbl ! ! on sustained notes. Would you think that is normal or am I loosing horsepower somewhere ?

Thanks

Well I tried some tests and I suspect that Collosus and Bos are both "remembering" my previous "expert" DFD settings across installs, even when I uninstall completely in-between.

Faran, could you possibly just post here what the new "expert" settings are for DFD should be after one of these installs?

FYI, here is what Bosen shows after a complete install and clean install:

Thanks again!

Thats correct. This is exactly the setting which comes along with the new installer dfd fix. Thank you for posting the screenshot. Our testers recommended this setting for all Kompakt based instruments. For folks who already have installed Boesendorfer, Colossus and EWQLSO Gold, the new installers will just set the DFD buffers as shown in the screenshot.

Ok, thanks for that. I'm pretty sure then that the new settings do NOT get applied unless you do a "Remove" prior to the install. I did that with Bosen, and got the correct settings I posted. For Collosus, I just installed over the top of it, and it "remembered" my previous DFD settings. Easy enough to change them to match though (which I did), so no big deal.

pianodano, I will try to do some further testing tonight with the Collosus Steinway and let you know what I find. Upon first trying the settings I posted, there didn't seem to be a HUGE difference, but I think there definitely was some improvement over the settings I was using before for the Collosus Steinway. Can you set your DFD to these setting (and 128 buffer) and let me know what you experience as well?

I will, and thanks for the screenshot.
