Closely followed by internet mailing, as so many people lose their fkucing manners when they communicate by e-mail. So suck on that arsewipe.

That has far less to do with mobiles than it does with people. I rarely answer my phone if I am in conversation with someone else, I never wander around talking on it and, in fact, I usually leave it at home when I go out. The phone is there for my convenience, not the other way around.

I still want to know how a person can connect to ADSL without paying line rental.

Use wireless broadband! We have a choice of two service providers here [maybe 3 now] so its plenty competitive and the rates are pretty low. I get 512k with unlimited downloads for around US$30 a month.

Meh, on a side note, I just bought MEW's album and when I got to university and was about to tear the plastic wrapper I noticed it's Sony-BMG, have to go back to the store and return it. No other way, I don't want to support corporations who think they can do whatever they please.

When you say "here", do you mean Australia or Sydney?

And why are you quoting in USD?

I shall look into wireless broadband, it might be a feasible solution to a problem that's been nagging me if I ever move from where I am now.

A question: What kind of hardware do you need for wireless broadband? Is it similar to the wireless networking for home use, the technology of which I am behind on?

You just need a wireless modem, either USB or PCMCIA. The USB one costs around Au$200 and the PCMCIA is about Au$300. I think Telstra now has wireless and there is also UnWired and iBurst. You get iBurst through various ISP's but UnWired do the service themselves, so they set the rates.
I use USD because it makes the most sense to the greatest number of people here.

For personnal use it can be ok but actual speeds aren't great.

Ah well...it's a population thing, I suppose. I've not come across any deals like that over here. A $49 cap sounds good - I don't think any NZ companies offer that.
Although the free local calls are unlimited.

Yeah, I get up to $230 a month worth of calls and text. Before I swapped plans my bill was $70-$80 a month and the Optus girly did a calculation and said I could double my mobile use and still come in under the cap. Pretty stupid of them to let me switch.

Look, sony finally took a fcuking hint....
