Atmosphere is NOT Supported [EDIT: Resolved]

:x I bought Atmosphere because of all the hype on the Receptor site about it being supported. Well, that just isn't so.

I believe that Atmosphere's #1 feature is it's realtime control over parameters so you can create these incredibly evolving landscape atmospheres. However, when running on Receptor, Atmosphere does not respond to any external controller messages. This makes it very, very crippled and not worth the money spent on it.

In addition, 3 emails to the folks at Muse about this issue have gone unanswered so I have to assume that either they know about this problem and don't have a fix or just don't care to support the product even though they have it pasted all over their websites.

Very disappointed with Muse. :x

I'm really sorry that you did not get a response. Did you send your email to support@museresearch.com?

You need to download and install version 1.4. It is still in beta, but it is pretty solid. Go to the SETUP page. In the MIDI section there is a checkbox at the bottom "Route MIDI CCs to Source Plugin" Check the checkbox and all the MIDI controllers will be sent to Atmosphere instead of being used by the Mixer.

Also, if you are not yet on 1.4, or wish to retain control of the mixer, you can assign 16 parameters of Atmosphere to respond to CC#'s. Check the manual for details.

actually: I use this feature for ALL for synths!!..VERY COOL and easy to do. Now I just have my knob controller set to 16-33 and I'm good to go with any synth in receptor.

OK. I just upgraded to 1.4. However, when I went back in to Receptor, Atmoshpere was gone from my plugin list.

1. The .dll and .dat are still on my receptor's drive as well as the patch directories.
2. I held down Multi and rebooted to rebuild the patch list but Atmoshpere still doesn't show up.
3. I tried to run the Atmosphere installer but that Failed.
4. I tried to remove all Atmosphere directories manually from the receptor drive to start from scratch but I can't manually remove the directories from Win XP.

At this point, I am stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Your Receptor hard drive has a folder called "Reports" Please email me the system log and the installation log from that folder. Email them to dan at museresearch dot com

:)
Well, much thanks to Dan who was able to get this issue resolved in an afternoon. I had to delete an XML file from the Atmosphere directory to get Atmosphere re-installed.

But the real solution was to install the 1.4 beta and turn on the new CC messages box in the Setup page. Now Atmosphere is responding just fine to regular CC messages.

Thanks Dan!

about how much memory and cpu does one instance of atmosphere use on a fairly large pad sound?

With 2GB of RAM you should be able to run quite a few.
