yep, the only thing that an Amp sim can't do for you. I just usually crank my monitors real loud, or wire an output into a guitar amp. not real good at two in the morning in a populated area. but oh well, they knew what they were getting into when they agreed to be your neighbor!

Feedback really isn't any different from the resonance in a filter. Problem is, it changes with pitch, also with a chord each one will feedback too. So yeah, best thing is to use something like Feedbug. But its not impossible to emulate!

The big difference between feedback and a resonant filter is the sympathetic vibration of the string, which is not a static thing, though it CAN be fairly static. Moving the guitar changes the guitar's phase in relation to the speakers, though, and different strings become the ones that feed back, and in different ways.
I guess I'd still say that it's quite different after all.

I've always reckoned that dmiFlute could be used to produce feedback-like effects, though I've yet to use it on a track. The physical modelling produces some fairly chaotic howlround sounds with certain settings and playing styles. I've been more successful with using it that way than getting any useable flute tones out of it, anyway.

Maybe I am wrong, but my experience is that this is the real strength of Slayer's effects. Maybe I am kidding myself, but it seems to create nice guitar feedback.
If you check out the end of the second little guitar lead (the hammer-ons) in Surfing The Solar Winds, this was created using Vintaudio Clean Electrics with Slayer effects.

PS: The prior post beat me to it.
