I have. But I'll remain disappointed until someone tells me I'm wrong about the closed nature of the protocol. It's plain and simple false advertising to call it "Universal." Me and my money are done with Mackie because of it.
Yeah, i got stung that way too when I got me one of those Smart cars. Smart my arse.

No, no you haven't.
Yes, I had. Mackie fcuked up in a fatal way. I looked for clarification. The fcukup was confirmed. End of story as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe they will come around someday, the way Echo/Event tried to do with specs for the Layla... years after I gave up and switched my focus to M-Audio. Too little, way too late.

Echo tried to win back the hearts and minds of the ALSA community after years of being openly hostile to them. It's because of the lesson learned from that experience that I have zero regard for the nondisclosure tactic that Mackie is using here.

You'd have to stop being Australian first. I've got a fundamental problem with the claim of "universal support" on a device that offers no such thing.

Well the spec's aren't *that* secret. I build an emulation of the MCU LCD screen (that goes nicely with a Behringer BCR2000 MCU emulation that had been built by Namihei).

http://www.xmlconsulting.co.nz/husker/huskervu.htm

Both were built using the MIDI Implementation spec provide as part of the plain 'ole Logic Control User's Guide (rebadged MCU). I assume the Mackie MCU guide has the same details? For some reason you can't download the MCU User Guide...

PM me if you want me to email you the Logic Control User's Guide (2Mb PDF).

cheers.
