Thanks squids for your input. Do you have a vague idea when the sound samples will be available? you said almost two weeks ago that you have actually listened to them, so they can't be that far away...at least I hope not.
The problem is that right now, I demoed GR2 and found it very nice, to the point that I am almost ready to buy it. But, I have to wait to listen to AT2 first. One thing I won't do, is buy AT1 now and get a version2 that I might like, while I know that I do like the version 2 of the competing product because I have actually tried and tested it. If they keep the same cutoff dates for the free update, which I think is the 31Dec2005, then I sure hope they release it at least 3 weeks prior to that so we can have the time to test the software.
Btw, concerning that Fivedays AT2 demo, is anyone going to see it?

Who wants 20000 combinations, 50 absolutely stunning sounding combinations would be enough
Almost like that 'but our library has way more gigabytes of samples'.. maybe I'm being unreasonable, but I'm still looking for 'great sound', and prefer that over countless variations of mediocre sound
So, do you happen to know if there'll be anything to listen to at that product presentation? I'll be really pissed off if it's 2 hours of website recitation and chinaware doll looking 19 year olds with plastic-surgery-gone-wrong frozen mimics

Well all I can say is I was at AES, I plugged in. I demoed A2 and what I heard is completely counter to everything squids has been saying about this plug for too long to remember. I wish folks would refrain from 'planting' themselves just to talk sh*t because they are in bed with someone. This is all vapor has been since before NAMM and continues to be. You can listen to someone speaking untruth till the mad cows come home. Aint no fat lady singing here...It will come out sometime and it will do what it will do. But as yet it does not do what folks say and have said it does. Pity some choose to forego credability

That's your opinion though Loopy... and you are one guy. You can't speak for me, him, her, them, or even your dog called Shep.
So please... don't talk like you're an authority on the subject
I'm quite looking forward to AT2, and if it sucks, I'll sell it. Simple as.

I know I'm looking forward to the post release threads...

Hey I would look forward to trying it as well. What was demoed at AES was a VERY unfinished software ! Thats what gets me with those 'in the know' talking out there backside all the time, talking about features which are not present in ANY version. And I'm not speaking for you who said I was ? I and I can talk as a better authority than some as I tried what many here have not. You dont like it - kiss me. Yeah I'm one guy, just like you, and my opinion is as valid as any post in this forum. You aught to get a grip.

OK !
But thinking with more clarity I see you have in fact made my point. Folks should not talk as if they know unless they do. And IMHO some are doing just that while at the same time being tied into the manufacturer - which IMHO just looses their credability with me.
Aside from IKM I am much more looking forward to the Izotope update... I think Trash smokes AT1 and feel strongly that Trash2 may do the same to AT2...and uh no dongle which would keep me from buying AT2 if it in fact has one attached.
Thanks for the smooch ! Verrrry nice...

I dunno. For $250 Canadian (cheaper than Amplitube 1 in its current version) I can get an audio interface, industry-standard modeling (no, nothing new, just the same sounds as the PodXT which still gets a lot of respect), vocal pre-amp modeling of uncertain quality (reports are good, but reports are just reports), and 6 Bass amps (if I'm not mistaken, Amplitube 2 ditches bass models because they'd compete with the forthcoming Ampeg plug, no?) thrown into a complete 24/48 (a limitation for some people, but within my parameters) USB interface so that I can use it with my desktop OR laptop.
The Line6 UX2. It seems pretty promising and the initial reviews are very good indeed.
AT2's advantage: HOPEFULLY (not proven yet) more realistic models, and an expression pedal, which would cost me another $200 or so (I think the Behringer FCB 1010 is still the cheapest path to MIDI expression) in order to use it with the UX2.
Of course, there's always the option to get a real wah/volume pedal for $99 instead, and put that in front of the interface.
According to the law of diminishing returns, those more realistic models would have to TRULY be more realistic, and not just smoke and hype, which remains to be seen. As soon as the debates crop up about "The Line6 Twang is better, but the AT2 Marshall is superior", I'll know that the differences are minimal and the return on investment very diminished.
Now, I'm interested in AT2, but I'd want the full-on version which means that the 'free' AT2 offered with purchase of AT1, which is software only, isn't all that attractive.
$250 American ($295 Canadian) for only software. Add a few bucks if I need to buy the dongle separately. Or, $199 American ($250 Canadian) for a full-duplex USB audio soundcard with lower-latency monitoring, AND the software which covers vocal, guitar, AND bass needs.
UX2 presents a pretty attractive alternative. I'm trying to be patient and wait for the demos of AT2, but since I'm already the kind of cat who's pretty impressed by Simulanalog Rednef Twin, and who thought the NI AC30 "Guitar Combo" was pretty damn good, I don't know how much longer I'm going to bother waiting.
I don't say that in some sort of imagined "Hah, that'll get them moving" kind of way. IK will never know of my existence, even if I buy it, which is fine and dandy. No, I merely mean that the longer I wait, the more I realize that AT2 is likely to seem overpriced to me when it comes out, and then I'll wonder why I bothered waiting.
What's the predicted retail price of AT2 again, including footboard, assuming the cheapest purchase path?

Mully: Nice UI but the angles of the knobs don't match the 3d perspective.
Greg: Why in the world would you pay 200 for an expression pedal?`I'm using a cheap 30 € model and it's just working fine.
Squids: Will the controller throw out conventional MIDI data as well, so I can control other stuff but Amplitube with it in addition? The GuitarRig one doesn't, which is a serious drawback.

This sounds more and more like free advertising to me. The wait has been too long for me to not being desapointed anyway. That combinations argument is a nonsense. Still no sounds but this horrible teaser...
Enough is enough. Time to move on.

They are going to be reminiscent of the ST2.1 post release threads...Hink wrote:I know I'm looking forward to the post release threads...
