Greg
yeah I always run my clothes through a mud puddle after washing them too...:P
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

You know, it's a good point. We always complain about computers emulating the 'flaws' of hardware... this is a chance to set it right.

Make the clean channel clean. Like truly clean. For that "driven clean channel" (slight overdrive) sound, you can STILL have it available on the dirty channel, no? No reason why in the computer world you can't have a truly clean channel that stays clean, as long as that 'sound' is then relegated to the dirty channel.

Hey Midiworks, your ampsim is in a usable state is it not? I mean, you've been making demo's with it.

Why not release a demo version for us to play around with? Because I have a feeling that any excitement generated by this has been dissipated since 2004 ;)

Yes Greg, thats what I mean,
on the other side a clean channel should be rather clean...
We'll see.
Thanks :)

Yes, sure its in a usable state since a long time.
The first demos were made only using the distortion a
compressor and sometimes a little delay.
Chained together, than run the dry KVR takes through.
For the latest Demos, I gave Dimitar the full distortion engine.

A demo version will be available shortly before release. ;)

I vote for the "clean channel stays clean". No need to emulate this or that real world behaviour when you drive your fancy tube amp's clean channel over the line, because that's what all other software amps are trying to do already... with more or less success. I think the winning approach is not to try to emulate a particular model/brand and just concentrate on the tone you get.

Exactly ! I find it silly in the digital domain to try to achieve this or that commercial sound by fiddling around with a never-ending array of emulated gear... just to end with a muddy tone. Just get directly to the tone !

Listening to your demos, your VST is a big improvement, you'd better keep things straight : sparkling, bright clean tone on one side, monster chugga-chugga (R) distortion (Midiworks registered trademark, patent pending) on the other. Think meat and potatoes here.

Hmm, I'd like a kob that goes from ultra clean to ultra distortion, and it must be a big knob.

One knob to rule them all...

sounds like a job for BetabugsAudio. ;)

Too bad the signal processing of an amp sim is so tricky. :D

MidiWorks, is there no change of doing 2 versions; a classic GUI with a clean channel and distortion channels, and a modern GUI version with one big knob - ranging from ultra clean to ultra distortion, that can give the user the ability to dial in the exact amount of distortion, be it little or a lot?

I think your amp will be very unique that way, and very flexible!

Yeah, and while you're at it, can you make it a slider? Circular movement with a mouse??!!?

ReValver actually has a nice feature where you could click on the knob and a slider will pop up for better control. Too bad that plugin hasn't been updated....
Or look at iZotope Trash - all sliders, with great options of using the mouse wheel to get as precise as you want.

By the way Midiworks - that's the plugin to beat soundwise, in my opinion. I heard there will be an update?
